How I Got My Quora Answers Republished To Major Publications And Landed A Column With Inc Magazine

A writer shares how answering questions on Quora in 2015-2016 got their work republished in Inc., Forbes, and Time, which led to a paid column with Inc. Magazine and substantial income from the traffic it generated.
In 2015, 2016, Quora had a really cool partnership with all of the major publications. So they partnered with, like, Inc. Forbes, Fortune, Time. And what they were doing is they had a team that would crawl really great Quora answers and then they would pitch the Quora answers to the major publications. And I figured this out, and I spent 20, 30 hours researching what are all the things most likely to get republished. And I started deliberately writing my Quora answers in that style. I'm pretty sure I set the record in 2015, 2016 for the most Quora answers republished by other major publications in a year. I had dozens and dozens and dozens, and I got them in every major pub. There was a point where Inc. Magazine was republishing one of my core answers every week for, like, months. I ended up getting a column with them and how their columns worked. You would get paid per page view for writers. There is no YouTube and AdSense. So I was like, okay, that's fair. You're going to pay me per page view. If I can bring you traffic, I'm going to get paid. They gave me this column, and they were like, hey, can you do two to four columns per month? And I was like, can I do one a day? And they were like, you're nuts. But sure. Literally every single day, day. For a year and a half, I wrote an Inc. Magazine column, like, insane level of output. And I was still writing on Quora. I ended up bringing in like, millions and millions and millions of page views for them. I probably was making three to five grand a month. That was like 50% of my paycheck. My thinking was, could I write two columns a day? Could I just double the input and double the output? So that was how I was making half my salary.
