A writer quit their 9-5 job the same day their first book came out. They built side hustles first, tested whether they could make money outside their job, then made the leap when the timing aligned.
I kind of pieced together a couple side hustles, and I wanted to gather data to go, okay, for six months, can I prove that I can consistently generate a certain amount of income outside of my job? And once I got around 50% of my monthly paycheck, I was like, I bet if I had eight more hours in the day, because I was only doing this at night. Couple hours. If I had eight more hours in the day, could I fill in the other 50%? That was the bet I was making. And I was like, yeah, I think I can. And so in 2016, same day I published my first book, actually, so book Goes Live. And it was my last day of work, which is really cool.
