I don't read for pleasure. I read to study. So, for example, I just picked up this novel tomorrow. And tomorrow and tomorrow, as I read, what I'm doing is I'm actually annotating every single page. And the goal is, I'm not trying to get lost inside the story. What I'm trying to do is understand on a paragraph level, on a sentence level, on an individual word level, how is the writer assembling the story? How are they doing what they're doing? How are they making me feel the way that I feel? And my goal, you know, by the time I get to the end of a section or a chapter, is to understand all the Lego blocks stacked on top of each other so that I have a framework of how could I assemble something similar.
