This is a YouTube video titled "How to Read (The Right Way)" containing a monologue or talk from March 20, 2024, discussing the deeper skills involved in reading comprehension and recommending the book "A Swim in the Pond in the Rain" by George Saunders as a guide to learning how to read effectively.
Most people don't know how to read. And when I say that, I don't actually mean the ability to read itself. It's when you start to read, are you aware of all the different things that are happening in the writing? Are you aware of all the different layers? I really recommend reading this book, A Swim in the Pond in the Rain by George Saunders. What he does is he goes through different short stories and then points out all the little things that you should be noticing inside those short stories. So it's actually a book where you're reading about how to read. And if you don't know how to read, then you're never going to retain or learn any of the information in the books.
