A founder reflects on building a ghostwriting agency to significant revenue before it failed. They learned more from the collapse than from success, and don't regret the attempt despite losing the business.
As much as I would love to say I wouldn't do what I did before build a ghostwriting agency. Scale it. We scaled it to 23 full time employees, about 180k a month in revenue, 80 concurrent clients at any given time. There is a lot of hard lessons learned, but I have to acknowledge that the reason that we've been able to grow our premium ghostwriting academy so quickly is largely because of that experience building and scaling that agency. It gave me an insane amount of pattern recognition of experience. I'm one of the only people in the world, I think, that can talk about ghostwriting at the level that I can, because I'm one of the only people who has built and scaled an agency and worked with so many different CEOs and founders from a ghostwriting perspective. So I wouldn't change it. I don't regret it at all.
