I Made Multi Six Figures Copy Pasting My Newsletters On Amazon, Here's How:

Nicolas Cole shows how to turn newsletters into Amazon books for extra income. He repurposed his Category Pirates newsletter into eBooks and print books, making six figures on top of his Substack earnings. The process needs only light editing and cover design.
Chapters
the self-publishing model. So you have to remember that when you write a newsletter, you really aren't just writing newsletters. What you're doing is you're crystallizing your thinking, and inside of each newsletter you have a ton of short-form content. We talked about that on the last live session, right? You write a newsletter, you pull out 20 notes, 20 short-form pieces. That's great. But each newsletter is also a book chapter. Each newsletter is also a section of a book chapter. And so another way to monetize is to write online, capture emails, sell book versions of those emails. So you go write 24 emails about a topic. Another way that you can monetize is you take all 24 emails, you smash them together, you do a little bit of light editing. Maybe you need to just kind of work on the way that the chapters transition into each other, and you publish that book on Amazon right now. You might be thinking, all right, so what is the value? Like, who would do that? Why would anyone go read the book? Why would anyone go buy the book? What's the value of this book? It's that it's organized and it's a different medium. Instead of reading it on Substack, maybe I want a physical copy on my desk. So we actually did this business model with Category Pirates. This was a business that I had started, uh, like 5 years ago, and we did this mini book model where we took each newsletter and basically like double and triple monetized it. So we would write long-form newsletters, then we would design these little covers, and we would publish the long-form newsletter, like 5,000 or 10,000-word newsletters. We would publish them as ebooks on Amazon, double monetized. Then when we had 15 or 20 of these newsletters or mini books on a topic, we would smash them together and we would create a print book just like this. And we would give the print book a title and we would put it on Amazon and it would be a print book and an ebook and an audiobook. And that is how Category Pirates grew to— it was a multi-six-figure paid newsletter on Substack. And then just by copy-pasting all of the content as self-published books on Amazon, we unlocked another six figures. In revenue. It's the same content. All you're doing is you're just changing the medium, right? So is that still doable? Yes, it absolutely is still doable. Everyone want to know a recent example? I wrote this entire book, Writer Career Paths, on Substack first. Did everyone know that? I have a little, a little like side newsletter on Substack here. Look at Writer Career Path #9, Writer Career Path #8, Writer Career Path #7. I wrote this entire book on Substack. It's behind, it's behind a paywall, but I wrote the entire thing on Substack, and then I took all of it and then I smashed it together into a book. And there is absolutely no reason why you can't do that. And the reason, just so everyone understands, the reason that I was able to do this is because I had already practiced the model for years with Category Pirates. So I knew I wanted to write this book. I just didn't sit down and write a book. I knew that the book was the end result, but I sat down and wrote a series of newsletters. And then just at the end, I took all the newsletters and smashed them into a book. And this is one of those things where it's like, go look at anyone who has a Substack. Go, go look at any popular Substack or any popular newsletter and ask yourself the question, why are they not republishing all their content as books? They would, they would unlock like hundreds of thousands of dollars in incremental revenue. But people don't know how to do this. And by the way, if you do want to know how to do this, down in the AI Writing School, there is a whole mini course here called One Person Publishing Empire. This is a full walkthrough of exactly how to do this. So if anyone wants to adopt this business model, which you're already taking the time to write the newsletters, like, you might as well double monetize, triple monetize the content. You can, you can do this and go through this.
By the way, if you're brand new to writing online and want a really easy place to start, I recommend reading The Art and Business of Online Writing. I wrote this book after I'd been writing online for over a decade and accumulated over a billion views on my work, monetizing my writing in all sorts of unconventional ways. And I wrote this book to give other writers like you a way to skip all the lessons that I had to learn the hard way and start seeing success from your writing a whole lot faster than I did. So if writing online is something you're thinking about or something you're actively practicing, I recommend picking up a copy of The Art and Business of Online Writing.
