Nicolas Cole says creators control how much content they make, but not whether it converts. Content compounds slowly and unpredictably, sometimes producing nothing for months before suddenly generating leads. Cold outreach has a clearer input-to-output ratio, but content requires patience.

The challenge of creating content is that yes, you have control over the inputs, but you don't have as much control over the outputs. Meaning you can decide how much content you want to create, whether it's 1 tweet a month or 10 tweets a day, or 1 newsletter a month or 1 newsletter a week. You can decide and control the inputs. The challenge with content is that it is a compounding strategy where you have to invest a lot in order to eventually get an output. So unlike cold outreach, you reach out to 10 people, you might get 2 responses. For every 10 units of input I put in, I get 2 units of output. With content, it's a little different. You might create content for 3 months and see zero inbound leads. But if you stick with it, all of a sudden in month 4, then you see 20 inbound leads. So it's a slightly less predictable thing.
