Two writers discuss why Upwork and Fiverr trap freelancers in low rates, and how successful writers escape by packaging services around specific client problems instead of selling hours.
Upwork and fiverr are a race to the bottom. So you have a million writers that all make the same mistake. They all say, I will do anything. Let me know what you need. And as a result, all of them try and out price the next person.
So they're like, I can do anything for $20 an hour. I can do anything for $15 an hour. I can do anything For $10 an hour.
High earning writers do it completely differently. They package what they do to solve a specific problem and then they go directly to the client telling them, this is what you need, opposed to sitting back waiting for what the client thinks they want.
