Have you ever heard of the book The Five Love Languages? It is one of my favorite book titles ever. It was able to take something extremely intangible— love. How do we quantify love? How do we measure love? How do we hold love? It is incredibly intangible and subjective how we define what love is. They were able to make it very objective and very tangible by going, we're going to take this big amorphous concept and we're going to say that in talking about love, there are 5. Little pro tip for everyone: if you ever want the easiest path to make something tangible, pick a number. And we're not talking about all love, we're talking about languages. So each of the 5 things are different quote-unquote languages, and the languages are things like, do you like physical touch, words of affirmation, gifts? The reason I point that out is whenever I'm tasked with applying these concepts to different industries, I like coming up with a frame of reference and then comparing against it. And so the 5 Love Languages is one I come back to often. I have a special place in my heart for copywriting, for woo-woo industries because it is very difficult to get these types of people to think tangibly and objectively.
