Nicolas Cole built an education product with expensive multi-camera setups and movie-quality production. He now believes the opposite: low-production Loom walkthroughs that show how to actually do something beat polished 4K videos every time.

I built an education product that taught founders and executives how to write on the internet and how to build their personal brand, which is funny because that ended up being the same thing that my agency did. It's just instead of selling it as information, we just provided it as a service. And I remember building that product. We spent so much time and energy in filming it in a really cool way. We set up multiple cameras. We like got this cool space that we could film in. We thought that the whole emphasis, the whole game was you gotta make it look really cool. You gotta make it look like a movie or like a masterclass or something. And it's funny how full circle I've come on that, 'cause that was my introduction to it. And now I feel the complete opposite. I feel like the most valuable information on the internet are very, very low production value. I would way rather watch a Loom video from someone explaining exactly how to do the thing that I'm trying to do rather than watch something that's shot on a 4K camera with super fancy editing that's just high-level motivation.
