This is a YouTube video titled "The biggest missed opportunities for writers" containing a monologue or talk from August 27, 2024, discussing strategies for writers to repurpose newsletter content into books and monetize their writing more effectively. The content focuses on organizing writing into thematic piles that can evolve into book manuscripts.
To me, one of the biggest missed opportunities. And I see so many writers online who just miss. It's like it's staring them right in their face and they don't do it. Once you start building this library of free newsletters and paid newsletters, basically think of it like different piles on your desk. So for me, an easy example would be every time I write about something digital writing related, I put it in the digital writing pile. Every time I write about ghostwriting, I put it in the ghostwriting pile. And then as each pile gets bigger and bigger, that pile isn't just a pile of newsletters that you wrote. Historically, that is the beginning of a book. In many ways, the pile is a book. And then once you have a good amount of content. So for context, the average nonfiction book is about 60,000 words, you can then monetize the content a third way because you can just upload it to Amazon and now you have an ebook and you have a print book for sale.
