This is a YouTube video titled "The biggest mistake every creator makes" containing a monologue or talk from November 22, 2023, discussing common misconceptions in the creator community about the importance of personal storytelling versus focusing on the audience's problems and needs. The speaker emphasizes that creators should prioritize solving their audience's problems rather than centering their own stories.
So this is, in my opinion, one of the biggest misunderstandings in terms of the, like, creator world. Your story doesn't matter. The only time people care is when your story adds context to a problem that the reader is dealing with. So when people are like, your story matters. No, your story doesn't matter. What matters is the category of problem that you are helping someone solve. And then the story adds color, it adds context, it adds human emotion. And until you come to terms with that or until you get that clarity, you actually don't know who you're creating for because you're just talking about yourself. You're just like, as long as I tell my story, I attract my tribe. Shut up. That doesn't mean anything. I have such strong opinions on this because I see so many talented creators leave all the opportunity on the table because they can't wrap their head around the fact that they aren't what matters. Your reader is who matters. The problem you're helping them solve is what matters. The category, the niche is what matters. You are secondary.
