Nicolas Cole breaks down why short prompts fail and detailed ones work. Give the AI a specific role, clear instructions, and context or examples. Tell it exactly what format you want back, and you'll get better results without needing massive data.

When you are prompting, your prompts should not be one sentence. If you are prompting correctly, your prompts should be like mini books. These should be pages long because in order to give AI clear enough instruction, you're going to need to articulate things in that level of detail. And so if you're using a two-sentence prompt, no wonder you're getting a subpar output. You want to establish three things: what specialty you would like AI to have. You are a copywriter, you are a positioning expert, or you are a business consultant, or you are a math analyzer. Second is you have to tangibly instruct What would you like it to help you do? And you have to be very, very clear and very objective about this. And then third is, in what context would you like to give AI? Yeah, you say, I want you to do this, but you also need to give some context and go, and here's what I would like you to use as reference. There has to be some sort of example, some sort of pattern recognition. This isn't complicated. It's not like you got to go build some master hub with a gazillion files of data. It's literally just help me do this and I'm going to copy paste in an example for you. And then at the end you need to go, and here's what I would like you to present back to me. I'm asking you to do this thing. I'm giving you some examples. Here's what I would like you to give back.
