Nicolas Cole reviews his entire contact list every month and sends personalized check-ins, often referencing recent news about their company. He reliably converts five new clients monthly this way. Most prospects already exist nearby, he says, they just need persistent follow-up.

At the end of every month, I would go through my list of all of the people I had talked to, like ever, every person I reached out to since the beginning of starting ghostwriting. Every month that list got bigger and I would reach out to all of them and I would just say, "Hey, it's been a minute. How are things? What's new with your company? You still thinking of authoring articles on the internet? What are you up to? I just saw your company in, I don't know, Forbes, or I just saw that you guys released this new product feature. Cool." I would follow up with every single person on that list every single month. Guess what happened every time I did that? I made money. Every single month without fail, I would follow up with everybody at the end of the month and magically like 5 new clients would fall out of the sky. And I cannot tell you how many times I would follow up with someone and their response to me would be some version of, "Such funny timing. I was just thinking about this." That happened like hundreds of times. This is one of those things that it's very easy for me to say. It's very easy for you to hear. I guarantee you, you already have your first 3 ghostwriting clients in your vicinity somewhere. And the only reason that they aren't paying you money yet is because you haven't followed up over and over and over and over and over again.
