Nicolas Cole argues the real bottleneck with AI isn't technical skill but the ability to write clear prompts. Vague requests like "give me great social posts" fail; specific, objective prompts with frameworks and examples work. Writing well is the essential skill for using AI effectively.

This is such a simple but powerful idea when it comes to prompting. If you are not getting the output you desire, it is because you are trying to automate something that you don't understand and you fundamentally can't automate what you can't articulate. A lot of people right now, they're like over-rotating thinking, I need to learn everything and everything about AI as a technology. But the real bottleneck to using AI is your ability to articulate what it is that you're trying to do. And in order to articulate what is the fundamental skill you have to have. Writing. You literally can't prompt if you don't know how to write. So everyone's like, oh, AI is taking over. I don't need to learn the skill of writing. What are you talking about? The skill of writing is now the most important skill on the planet. If you don't know how to write, you can't use any AI technologies. It's all about your ability to unbundle language. Instead of saying, give me really great social posts, which is general, it's subjective. It's open to interpretation. What you want to do is the opposite. You want to give very specific direction. You want to give objective direction. It's not open to interpretation. You want to give frameworks. You want to give steps. You want to give exact examples.
