This is a YouTube video titled "This is why you aren’t making $$$ as a writer" containing a monologue or talk from August 18, 2023, discussing the mindset shift needed for writers to succeed financially by focusing on audience demand rather than personal writing preferences.
And I had this aha moment where I was like, oh, you can make money as a writer. It's just you need to differentiate between saying, I want to write this. And then you go out into the world and go, who's willing to buy it? Or are you starting in the opposite direction? And go, what do you need? What answer are you looking for? What question do you have and can I provide it? As soon as I realized that, everything changed and I went from the fallacy of I'm going to sit down and write what I want to write about, now I have to go hustle it with starting in the inverse. Who's the reader? What do they want?
