Why the First 10 Seconds Matter in Videos

Two creators break down why the opening 10 seconds make or break a video. They explore hooks, visual tricks, and how to stop the scroll on Instagram before viewers move on.
But if you ever sit on Instagram where you scroll like twice, and then there's that like box of four where they show the shorts and they're very clearly like optimized for that box, the hook, I'm recognizing that that is the game being played at the absolute highest level to be shown to cold audiences that are just interested in whatever like somewhat topic there.
I think it's with Instagram and with video especially, it's not just hook, it's visual hook. Because the thing that you see in the feed isn't you're not even start to play it. Like, you're literally seeing it on mute. And what gets you to click is the visual.
The first 10 seconds into like four little screens is how I'm noticing it. So there's like a time element there too. And I'm just watching those hooks and I'm like, damn, there are so many different styles of hooks. When you go video versus text, and I'm watching these like steak videos and all the other stuff, and I'm like, damn, that's a cool hook. How do you do that with writing education?
