This is a YouTube video titled "You are NOT the Main Character #shorts" created in May 2024. The content features a single speaker discussing a key mindset shift in a writing career, emphasizing that the writer is not the main character but rather the reader is, highlighting the importance of connecting with and impacting the reader.
What is one belief slash mindset you had to unlearn when you started in your writing career? I think the hardest one for me, and I notice it's the hardest one for everyone, is thinking that you are the main character. Whatever it is that you want to write is what being a writer is all about. And what you end up learning is that you are not the main character. The reader is the main character. And so, yes, you should write things that you're interested in. You should write things that you're excited about. But it doesn't matter if you're not able to reach the reader, if you're not able to give them something, teach them something, make them feel something.
