Consciously Influence Your Autonomous Nervous System

Niraj Naik argues you can consciously control your autonomic nervous system to lower heart rate and blood pressure without drugs. He claims these techniques reduce chronic stress and medication dependence better than pharmaceutical approaches, which he says cause side effects. The episode includes a demonstration.

You can influence your blood pressure, your heart rate. You can all learn these techniques. And we are bringing these powers to everybody, okay? That's our mission. The autonomic nervous system has two pathways, the sympathetic and parasympathetic pathway. The sympathetic deals with action, doing stuff, making stuff happen is also associated with energy and fight and flight. So your fear response of either attacking or running away or freezing is all down to this sympathetic nervous system. However, we don't live in the same time as our ancestors, where this was very important to attack or run away, because they had much more primitive existence. Nowadays, our emotional stresses, like our job, our relationships, all of these things also switches on the fight and flight. And if you're doing a job you don't like, if you're stressed at work, this is going to keep you pumping out adrenaline, cortisol, all these hormones, they're released when your sympathetic nervous system switched on and that leads to chronic stress, which leads to disease. It creates the tension contraction, okay? And. And that's not what you want. And actually a lot of the recreational drugs that people use actually are very stimulating and they work on the sympathetic nervous system as well. And then we have the opposite of the sympathetic or the parasympathetic, which deals with rest and digest, which is our healing mode. It's actually what we need to digest our food and go to sleep, okay? And lower our blood pressure. Now, drug companies love this side and they use medicines to work on this side of the nervous system to help us relax, better sleep, lower our blood pressure and lower our heart rate. However, the problem with medicine is that it is not intelligent, so it leads to side effects because it doesn't work in harmony with the body. It works on singular chemical processes that are going on, which makes them not very efficient or intelligent. So.
For a long, long time, we have been told that we have no influence, no power over the sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous system or the autonomic nervous system, which is called.
And that the only things we can do is use drugs, medicines, surgery or machines to work on these pathways, okay? However, this has been debunked and proven to be wrong, okay? The truth is we actually all have the power to tap into ultimate nervous system, to switch off stress, to lower blood pressure, to lower our heart rate. And that means that we're not going to be dependent on blood pressure medications, on heart drugs, on sleeping tablets, if we know how to wake up. And in a pharmacy also means that the other side, on the sympathetic nervous system, we don't need steroids and things like that for long periods of time, because we can create our own steroids. We can use our own natural pharmacy to lower inflammation in the body, okay? It also means we don't need to be dependent on recreational drugs for stimulation and energy and euphoria, because we can actually create that states as well, naturally. So this was a huge revelation when I discovered for my swami how to tap in to autonomic nervous system. And I'm going to show you something, okay? Because I think this is a very good demonstration of what I'm just talking about.
That is using this device here.
