My monkey mind goes everywhere during meditation. What can I do about it? Now this is a really common question that meditation teachers get probably after every single class. Now here's the thing. With any kind of meditation practice, it's a really good idea to not think too much about the monkey brain, okay? And the thoughts are going around head. In fact, the best advice is to just relax and allow whatever thoughts you have just to be and let them flow like a stream of consciousness. By not becoming attached to them, you are going to not create more anxiety, more thoughts about oh, I can't stop thinking or should I be thinking or not. And actually the thoughts will eventually dissipate themselves. The most important time when you really are going to go into that really deep meditation where you may want clear the thoughts is during the breath retention phase in the Soma Awakening Journeys. So when you're holding your breath with no air in the lungs, actually just by pausing your breath, it's going to allow you to go very deep into a meditative state where the thoughts calm right down. And you may find this is the first time you've ever been out to meditate without any thoughts coming going on in your mind. Another tip you can do is to tune into the music. Try and tune into the music and focus on the sound of the music or bring your awareness to the breath. When you bring your thoughts into single focus, actually this really helps you clear the clutter and the thoughts.
