Jason Mark Campbell and instructor Tanya Patti lead a live 40-minute Soma Breath practice that moves energy up your spine and down the front of your body through rhythmic breathing and visualization. The technique uses 4-4 and 2-2 count patterns with breath retention, tongue placement, and pelvic-floor engagement to reset your nervous system.

You can let people into the room. Big welcome everyone to our Breathe Together Sunday. My name is Jason Mark Campbell. I'm so excited to be here and see all your lovely faces who are either joining for the first time or coming back. Good to see Carmen. And I'll encourage everyone, if you have your camera on and not feeling shy, turn it on. We'll get a chance to see each other before we get into the breathwork. And, uh, we're going to be going through this for an entire hour. And if you are more shy and you'd rather use the chat, then definitely use the chat to let us know where you're tuning in from. We usually have some people coming in from Asia, Oceania, and a couple of late people out in America's time zone. And that would be an evening on a Saturday, which makes you think, why am I showing up for a Breathe Together Sunday on a Saturday night? Well, that's because it is Sunday morning here in Asia, and so that is going to be the place that we are doing our Breathe Together Sunday. It's an addition that we've done to the main Breathe Together Sunday that will be happening in about 13 hours from now. That is the one that is being accessed for a lot of us in Europe and the people out in Americas. But if you're here in Oceania, you're here in Asia, or you're just joining in on a Saturday night, you are more than welcome. If you are tuning in from a place like North Germany, then you are starting the day at 5 in the morning, and I salute you. We're going to make sure to make the most out of our breathing session together. So if this is your very first time here, welcome to Soma Breath. We're here on a mission to bring forward the powers of the breath for self-healing, for helping you reach new peaks, change your states, have healing experiences, and more. And the session we're going to be doing today is going to be the Circle of Life. This is going to be a beautiful meditative and energizing routine that's going to be going for about 40 minutes. So get yourselves ready, we'll start on the 10-minute mark here on the timer so that we can make sure to have the entire experience experience completed within the hour. And it's going to be a beautiful session that is led by the one and only Patty. And Patty is one of our instructors who has created this session. It's a beautiful journey, so you are in for a treat. Giving a shout out here, we got Wendy coming in from Dallas. We have somebody in Athens, Greece, Elena, coming in at 5 in the morning as well. Great to see you. Aaron, South California, 8 PM, you're going to see a sunset session. So beautiful transformation is going to come from you doing this breath session when you wake up, open your eyes, you'll see the sun will have set. Heather coming in from Western Washington, USA. So we have a lot of people out in the North Americas. Haven't seen my Australians on the group yet. So nonetheless, Saturday night you're going to have a beautiful session. So if this is going to be an evening for you, you're going to have a restful sleep, you're going to have an energized session, and it's going to help you process all your thoughts of the day. And if you are starting the day off, well, guess what? You're going to be waking up feeling wonderful, energized, ready to take on your Sunday as we get to breathe together. Now, if you are joining this for the very first time, I'll give a quick overview of what to expect for a Soma Breath session. Just raise a hand for those who are in the chat, first-timers. If this is the first time you're going to be going through a Soma Breath journey, just type in first in the chat and I'll immediately know that we have a lot of newcomers. If you're a Somi, you've done at least one breath journey with us before, you can type in Somi, and that way we will know that we have some returners that are joining us. If you are on the live streams on the YouTube, etc., know that we are here on Zoom for our Breathe Togethers. And if ever you want to join these session and regular free classes that we do on the Soma Breath app, I'm going to ask the team to go ahead and drop a link for you to download the Soma Breath app. Our Breathe Together Sundays, you can see all the sessions that are available there. If you decide to upgrade, become a premium member on the app, there are tons of additional tracks you can do, additional live sessions as well. So we will make sure that you get the resources you need to always build a habit around breathwork when you see the benefits that this practice brings for you. Now I'm having a look here and it looks like the majority of you are first-timers. Well, it is an honor to be the person who is here facilitating for your very first breathwork journey with Soma Breath. You're going to feel amazing and the protocol is going to be very easy to follow. There's going to be two major breathing patterns we'll be doing on the session today: a 4-4 count and a 2-2 count. There's three major phases to a Soma Breath session, so pay attention to this part. I'll explain to you exactly what to expect When we go through the chat, uh, the track, you'll see that everything is going to be reminded, but it's good to have an expectation of what's coming so that you're going to be really relaxed and really present for the session to come. So there's going to be 3 major sessions to the breath journey. We're going to be breathing in rhythm. This means that we're going to be doing inhales through the nose, exhales through the mouth in a smooth, continuous rhythm with the music. And you will be hearing a count throughout the breathing portion to let you know that you're going in 2, 3, 4, out 2, 3, 4. If you are putting your hand on your heart and you are putting a hand on your belly while you are breathing, you're going to be breathing through the belly. You should feel your belly going up and down. So I'll give you an example. Smooth and continuous. There will be no pauses during the breathing and rhythm portion, and you'll be doing this for a few minutes as the music will be guiding you, and you will hear the guidance from our instructor. And at one moment, you will see that we'll be encouraging you to take a deep inhale and exhaling fully and holding. This will be your first breath retention phase with an exhale. You'll be holding your breath with your lungs empty and trying to hold this for as long as it is comfortably or slightly uncomfortable in the process. This is really where you're getting into the intermittent hypoxic state, which is one of the major benefits of doing a Soma Breath Cycle. Now, I do want to give a few contraindications here that if you have any kind of hypertension, pregnancy, if you're under any kind of medical supervision that would make it so that breath retentions might be a stretch and a difficulty, please do have a consult with the doctor first so that we make sure to have this as a very safe practice. And if you have no medical conditions in place and you feel very healthy, then I will say, look, when you do the breath retentions, you're going to be holding it for as long as you can. And sometimes we're going to ask you to stretch a little more past the comfort zone, but you know your body first. So whenever you feel an urge to breathe, we're actually going to encourage you to take a sip so that you can extend the retention. So an example would be if you're absolutely out of breath, you can always go— take a little sip, exhale quickly, and continue on the breath retention. And then if you absolutely cannot hold, or you have one of the medical conditions that makes it feel like a breath retention might not be the best thing to do right now, just continue to breathe in rhythms throughout these phases. That's perfectly fine too. Now, at some moment during the breath retention, you'll be guided towards taking a deep inhale and doing a retention as well. So, and then you will be holding with your lungs full, and at this point you're going to do a contraction of the sphincter, which would be that muscle you would use if you want to retain going to pee. And as you do that, you'll send the energy up into the midbrain, and you will feel a cocktail of neurochemicals coming through, making you feel amazing. And at that place, you'll be retaining that for just a short while, doing a full exhale with a hum. Hum, before returning to normal breathing. That will be completing a first round of what we're going to be going through today. We'll be doing 3 rounds, and actually, let me confirm that before I put my foot in my mouth here. I do believe it is 3 rounds, but I will make sure to set the right expectations. And yes, we are going to be doing 3 rounds. Rhythms will be 4/4 as well as 2/2. And you'll be guided throughout the journey. But again, breathing in rhythms through the nose. Big inhale, exhale fully, hold. If you need to breathe, quick exhale, inhale. Then you'll be encouraged to take a full inhale, retain, squeeze the sphincter muscle, send the energy up, and exhale with a hum. That will be your cycle. If you guys are here for the first time and you got it, type in got it in the chat so I know that we got it. If you're feeling like, oh my God, I need him to repeat it again, don't worry. You will be guided through every step during the track, so you will always know exactly what to do following the instructions. You guys are in good hands and you're going to be having a beautiful experience. Expect to feel good. Expect to have a meditative state. Expect to have some energy being released. And relaxation, blissful states. All of that is what you should be expecting through the session today. Now, this whole journey is a circle of life, and it's really about bringing in your conscious breathing, setting beautiful intentions, having energetic awareness as life force will be circulating through your body. And so if you are ready and excited for this, I'm going to give you two ways that you can experience this breathwork. Number one is you can be sitting down in an upright posture kind of in a meditative state, and you can do your breathing from here, or you can lie down. And when you lie down, get yourselves very comfortable. Make sure that you're in a comfortable state to be able to breathe, being undisturbed. Again, we're going to be going for just under 40 minutes here, and we want to make sure you get to choose the path that makes most sense for you. Lay down, sit, that's really up to personal preference. Final thing I'll say is if you do happen to have any headphones. It does enhance the experience. It's not a mandatory thing. If you just want to use your computer speakers, that's totally fine. But if you're able to bring headphones onto your head, it does make it just a little more better because guess what? Soma Breath is known for having amazing music as you're going to be going through this journey. So with that being said, I believe we are 10 minutes past the hour and I promised you we'd get started now. So get yourselves in position. We're going to get started with the Circle of Life by Tanya Paddy who's going to be guiding you through this beautiful journey. Enjoy the journey, and we will come back together to discuss the effects that it's had on yourselves. So put yourselves in position and let's get started.
Begin to connect with your breath. Just observe it. Feel its texture, its movement. Feel its coolness as it comes into the body and its warmth going out. Begin to feel its circulating movement.
Movement.
This movement of the breath is a vital part of life and well-being, and we cannot sustain our bodies without it. But there's also another source of energy that is needed to sustain life and well-being. In Egypt, it is called Ka. Eastern traditions call it Chi. Or Qi. Yogic traditions call it prana, and other traditions call it source energy or love. In this session, we will be using our breath to help us connect with this energy and its movement within our bodies. Qi Gong means the cultivation of life force energy, and in Taoist Qigong practices, this cycle of energy in the body is called the Microcosmic Orbit or the Circle of Light. The Circle of Light begins in the lower belly or second chakra area. It then travels down to the perineum, under the tailbone, and rises up the spine, continuing over the top of the head, and flows to the area of the third eye between the eyebrows. The tip of the tongue resting on the roof of the mouth is the bridge for the energy to then begin its descent down the front of the body. As it connects with the tongue, it flows into the mouth, down the throat, to the heart, and then bathes the organs as it flows back down into the abdomen, thus completing the circle. Connecting with this flow of energy is a very centering practice as it helps to gather our fragmented energy and bring it back into a harmonious flow that gives energy and vitality to the body.
Niraj Naik, Niraj Naik, Niraj Naik.
Today we will use our breath and intention to help us connect with this circle of light within us. The circle of light has two channels of flowing energy. The channel that rises at the back is associated with fire, warming, awakening, action, and the sympathetic nervous system. Think of fire rising. The channel that travels down the front is associated with water, cooling, calming, softening, and the parasympathetic nervous system. Think of water falling down. Placing the tip of the tongue gently on the roof of the mouth helps to connect the upward flowing circuit with the downward flowing circuit. As we breathe, there are a number of different things that you can do to help your body feel a connection with this energy circuit in the body. You may imagine energy moving from your navel down and around your tailbone, up your spine, over the top of the head and moving into the area between the eyebrows as you inhale. And then imagine it descending down the front of your body from between the eyebrows into the mouth, connecting with the tongue, going down the throat and into the abdomen, bathing all of your organs as you exhale. Also, as you inhale, you can lift and squeeze your pelvic floor muscles to help send the energy up, and then release your pelvic floor muscles as you exhale. You can undulate your spine as you breathe, pushing the spine forward and extending as you inhale, and flexing and moving the spine back as you exhale. You can also use your hands, raising them up as you inhale and lowering them down as you exhale. Or with your eyes closed, you can look up as you inhale and look down as you exhale. You can be as subtle or as animated as you like. The most important thing is your intention and focus. I suggest sitting up for this breathwork journey, but you may do whatever works best for you. Okay, let's get ready now to breathe in a rhythm. We will be breathing in a 4-4 rhythm. If you would like to hold the tip of your tongue to the roof of the mouth during the breathing round, you may find it easier to breathe in and out through the nose, which you may do if you prefer. Okay, ready? Here we go.
In 2, 3, 4. Out, 2, 3, 4. In, 2, 3.

And now inhale and exhale, emptying your lungs to a comfortable place, and hold your breath out. If you haven't done so already, touch the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth to create the bridge to connect the upward flowing energy and the downward flowing energy. And now, as you sit in a place of stillness, Observe the flowing river of energy inside of you, the circle of light that you have connected with. Feel it continue to move and flow within you, bringing about a state of well-being, balance, and vitality. When you feel the first urge to breathe, stay with the flowing energy within you and hold for a few more seconds. In so doing, your body is becoming stronger and more adaptive and resilient. When you can't hold any longer, take a small sip of air in, blow it out again, and continue to hold. You may do this as many times as you need. Feel the strength of your energy in your body increasing. Just a few more seconds. And now inhale, bringing fresh oxygen into the lungs, and hold your breath in. Feel this new in-breath vitalize your being with prana, with love. See this energy being added to the circle of light flowing within you. And now release your breath. And return to your natural breathing as we prepare for our second round. We will begin the round breathing in a 4-4 rhythm. You may once again bring your tongue to the roof of your mouth and breathe in and out through your nose if you would like. Midway through, we will change to a faster 2-2 rhythm. At this point, you may rest your tongue and return to inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. I will let you know when to make the change. Ready? Here we go.
In 2, 3, 4. Out 2, 3, 4. In 2, 3, 4. Out 2, 3, 4. 3, 4, in, 2, 3, 4, out.

Just be a witness now to the energy flowing within you. This is the energy that creates universes, and it flows within you. This is who you are, and you can never be separated from this. Let your mind be still and see who you are behind the thoughts. Niraj Naik. Just a few more seconds. And now inhale and move the energy from your navel down around your tailbone, up the spine, over the crown of the head to the area between your eyebrows. And hold, squeezing your pelvic floor muscles as you do. And now release your breath and feel the energy moving down from the third eye into the mouth, down the throat into the heart and returning back to the area of your navel. And now just rest in your natural breath as we prepare for our next round of breathing. We will be breathing in a 4-4 rhythm, and if you prefer, you may once again touch the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth and breathe in and out through the nose.

Know that this energy Love is your very essence, and you are always one with it, always connected. It is always there for you, always who you are, and you can never be separated from it. Let the thoughts Drop away and be with the one behind the thoughts.
Niraj Naik.
Just a few more seconds. And now inhale, drawing in the essence of life, and bring it into your center and hold your breath in. Feel life energy entering your body as the oxygen replenishes your blood and tissues. And now release your breath. Feel how centered and connected you are now. Continue keeping your eyes closed and just be in the space of flow, balance, and peace that you have created. Now begin to gently move your body. And when you feel ready, you may open your eyes.
Welcome back, everyone. And that was the circle of Light with Tanya Patti. Gonna give you all a moment to come back into this space. I already see Cameron— Carmen's feedback coming in. Wonderful to hear, Lily. I, I hope that the issue with the sound did resolve itself. It didn't seem like it was a global issue. Perhaps there's going to be something on your your internet side. But I mentioned this early in the session that a lot of the music we play for sessions like this are available on the Soma Breath app. And so if you are new to Soma Breath, well, whenever you join one of our sessions and we ask you if you're new, you no longer can say you are. You will have to claim yourself to be a Soma, as you've officially completed your first Soma Breath journey with us. I see Jordan, I see Leanne, and Eric have turned on their camera. Good to see you all. Usually this moment we spend a few minutes just to hear your feedback. What happened for you? What was the highlight for you? And so for anybody who's feeling comfortable turning on their camera, wanting to share a few words, let's bring the community together and get a chance to chat. And Aaron, you were the first one to turn on your camera, so I wondered if I could bring you on first to be able to share. So I'm going to give you a chance to unmute, and I'd love to hear how this experience was for you.
That was freaking amazing. That was so— I've never done breathwork in my life, and I just had an ad come up on my Facebook, and I was like, you know what, 8 o'clock our time, I'm not doing anything, we're just gonna watch sunset in the backyard. And so we did the whole— my husband and I's first time. Um, oh my God, that was so cool. And then I did the practice one 'Cause, you know, we got a little text saying that, you know, if you've never done this, check out our app, download the app and do the 6-minute trial. I did the 6 minutes. I was like, oh my God, that is so freaking cool. So I was like, we're definitely doing this. And so here we are. And that was so amazing. I've never experienced anything like that. That was really cool.
Well, welcome to the experience. You know, there's a fun logo we say, we say get high with Soma Breath 'cause you feel so high. You feel so good and it's all natural. It's just with your breath. Isn't that crazy?
It was so cool. I was able to hold my breath for the majority of the time. So that, it was just cool. That was, that was really, really cool.
Amazing. And whereabouts are you tuning in from?
Corona, California, Southern California.
Okay. Yeah. 8:00 PM makes it really nice on a Saturday night. So sorry for the difference between a Sunday and a Saturday, but we're glad you could join us.
It was perfect. It was a beautiful sunset. Now we're about to, you know, light a fire outside and just relax. So it was perfect.
Very happy to hear about you and your husband that you guys got to do this beautiful track. Tanya Patti's Circle of Light is really powerful, a little more advanced to be honest. Like, it really takes you on a good deep journey in just 3 rounds. It's amazing. And so glad you were able to join us and glad you guys had that first experience. If you get the app, you can continue to do journeys. We have tons of stuff that happen for free. If you upgrade to get the premium, there's just even more of the awesome stuff. And we're glad you're in the ecosystem.
Yeah, thank you.
Awesome. Let's give it up for Aaron. Next up, I'm going to see who else is here. Jorda, mind if I bring you on, get a chance to hear how the experience was for you? So I'll give you a chance to unmute. Looking cozy with the headphones. And so how was this for you? Oh, I think I gave you a chance to unmute. Let's see if I can hit that button again. You should be able to see a little prompt on the phone. It's a little— there you go.
Yeah, I did. Hi.
Hi.
How are you doing? Well, it was kind of for me, I've been now, it's been for me like 3 weeks doing Soma since I downloaded the app. And tonight I started, but it was kind of, I had to move to the sofa. Everyone is watching the basketball. Championship, but I was like, okay, no, I'm not gonna miss this. And then, um, it's amazing, it's amazing. And you— my, my son was telling me that I don't need to, to have anything to get high, just breathing. It is amazing. I'm still having trouble when we had to hold the breath. I'm still having that like creeping up the whole entire time I'm working on that. So, and I feel like a little bit anxious when I get to— when you breathe out, when you exhale, and then you have to hold the breath for, for a long period of time. I'm still like kind of struggling with that, but other than that, it's, it's amazing.
Well, thank you, thank you for sharing. And you know, in the chat, if anybody else had that struggle on the breath retention, just type in me too, because thing is, is you're not alone for that. And quite frankly, I still have difficulty holding the breath retentions to the full amount of time.
Really?
And that's why, you know, to be able to take that little sip of air, the— to kind of extend it really helps. And look, these tracks are designed to be a template, but all of us are individually different. So unless you're doing like a one-on-one breathwork that can be customized to the length that you need, you do you, and you have to trust you. So like, for that level of anxiety, it's like, no, you— if you need to breathe, you breathe, and that's perfectly fine. It doesn't mean you're missing out on the effects. And just keep doing it, practicing it, trying some different tracks. You're doing the work. This is fantastic. So you've done nothing wrong. So I just want to— because you see Janet's also jumping in and sharing that they're— you're not alone doing this. That is a part of it. And so we're glad you got to join.
Yeah, thank you, thank you so much.
Yeah, hey, I have one more question I was going to ask you. You've been doing it for 3 weeks. Have you noticed any changes in your own behavior, your own energy, now that you've started to do the practice regularly?
It's kind of— it's been a journey because I combined this with Dr. Joe Dispenza meditation. And yes, we're in a group. And yes, it's, I don't know how to describe it, but I'm kind of, every time I do like Joe Dispenza meditation, I had to go to somabreath or either or. I mean, like somabreath in the morning, like gratitude, and then Joe Dispenza, and then somabreath again. And so it's been like, I breathe breath, inspired, somabreath. I'm addicted to it. So it's amazing, it's amazing. If I get like tired of it, yes, yes, it's been like, oh my God, I love it, I love it. I recommend to everyone. I even sent like, you need to buy and download the app, or you need to buy the membership to everyone. Everyone around me know about Soma, and I'm a musician myself, so it's amazing for me because it's The music, the rhythm, everything.
So yeah, and I really like the rhythm on this, especially on the second round there. It's so vibey on this one, so I really, really appreciate that.
I love it, love it, love it.
The number of times I've seen our students and somies come to us and combine it with Joe Dispenza meditation is something I've heard a lot before. So we're glad you have that part of the routine too. That's a great ally in the, in the quest of heightening consciousness around the world. So Glad to have you on board, and I'm glad you're able to put the headphones and have your experience in the midst of the activities in the house as well.
What? It's crazy, but I mean, I'm addicted to it, so I love it.
Thank you. Very, very cool. Well, guys, this is towards the end of the session, so I'm going to give a few pieces of advice for people. So for one, if this was your morning, you're probably feeling really energized, so maybe just go walk around in the grass. Really feel connected, grounded, maybe do a little bit of stretching, etc. If this was an evening or afternoon, just make sure maybe a warm cup of water, just a way to just decompress, relax, process. And I promise you'll be having a great night's sleep with what you've just experienced today. And one thing I just going to mention is the app. We've mentioned it a few times. If you don't already have it, a beautiful place to start. And when we do these breathe togethers, there's a lot of people that are on the call, they're like I might want to be able to do this in a way to— of practicing and being able to lead sessions myself. So if there's anybody who sees themselves potentially considering becoming a breath practitioner themselves, know that Soma Breath is also a school that certifies instructors that bring breathwork events to their local areas, whether that's working on the community or being able to do one-on-one session. Our instructor programs are world-class, and we give you a ton of tools to be able to either do do online or in-person sessions with breathwork. And so if this is a path that you want to consider, we're going to put a link for you to get more details on how you can become either a transformational coach or an advanced instructor with Soma Breath. Click on the link that we've put into the chat. That'll give you a lot more information to see if this is right for you. The process is very simple. We ask you to apply. We want to hear your why, and we'll get on a conversation with you to build a vision and flow as to what would your path look like, whether you're making a career change and including breathwork either as part-time or full-time, we want to get to know you. And if we see this as a fit, we'll share about ways that you can get involved with Soma Breath and make sure that you can bring a lot of healing to the world one breath at a time. I know it's cheesy, but I love using it anyways. Much love, everyone. I'm so glad you got to experience your very first Soma Breath journey with us. Tanya Patti was the voice that was guiding you. The Circle of Light is the track that you can find onto the app. And if you have the energy to join future Breathe Together sessions, know that we have another one in about 12 hours. That's usually for our Europeans that are joining, as well as the Americans that want to do a morning Breathe Together session. So go and check that out. And we are complete for the Breathe Together on the Oceania and Asia time. I did notice somebody has from Australia joined a little later, so we salute you. We hope you enjoy that we make these available in your time as well. And my name is Jason Mark Campbell. I've been your facilitator for today. Please enjoy your evening or your day, and we're glad you joined us for a Breathe Together Sunday. Much love and peace.
