Why “Spark” Is the Biggest Lie in Relationships : Truth Exposed | Mitesh Khatri

In this solo relationship‑advice video, Mitesh Khatri argues that the common belief that a lasting partnership requires a continual "spark" of excitement is a fundamental misconception. He explains that couples often break up not because the spark disappears, but because they keep searching for it, mistaking the absence of excitement for a problem. Instead, Khatri advocates embracing "normality"—the steady, boring phase that characterises long‑term relationships—as the true foundation for durability. He introduces a practical framework of seven bonding needs—comfort, change, importance, connection, growth, serving, and the need for "nothing" (personal space)—that partners must fulfill to stay bonded. For each need, he suggests rating the partner’s fulfillment on a 1‑to‑10 scale, providing concrete examples and anecdotes to illustrate how to assess and improve each area. Throughout, he mixes conversational storytelling with motivational prompts, urging viewers to comment their readiness for a "normal" relationship and offering a free first lesson of his Relationship Mastery course as a next step. The video blends theory, self‑assessment tools, and a clear call to action aimed at helping viewers both prevent relationship boredom and strengthen existing bonds.

How to reignite the spark in a relationship which feels boring right now and is probably almost breaking up. Listen, if you're in a relationship right now and things are going tough, you need to be with me in this video till the very end. You have no idea how important this is for you, so stay with me. If you want to get into a relationship, then it's even more important because you don't want to repeat the mistakes that many people make and get to a point when their relationship gets boring. Makes sense? Let's begin. Step number 1 is something which is going to blow your mind. One of the reasons a lot of people are breaking up in their relationship, the symptom they feel is spark is missing, correct? That's the symptom. But do you know that's not the spark? That's the mistake. People are not breaking up in a relationship because the spark is missing. People are breaking up in a relationship because they are looking for the spark. It's actually wrong to look for a spark in a relationship. I'll tell you what you need to look for. You need to look for normality. Most people are looking for that excitement. Most people are looking for that spark of, wow, I feel amazing when I'm with this person, right? That's the worst thing you can do when it comes to making a decision of having a long-term life partner in your life. Listen, I'll prove it to you. Anything which has excitement to it will always remain with you temporary. Anything which is with you for long term will feel normal, and that is why it is with you for long term. Let's take money example. You will make sense with this. If you made one time ₹1 lakh and you felt excited about it, I would say that's a problem. Because it's a one-time income. I, I mean, I get it that you're excited that you made ₹1 lakh today. My problem is that you don't feel normal about making ₹1 lakh. But I would like you to feel normal about it. I would like you to have that income consistently. And for that, you need to feel normal towards that level of income. Makes sense? So anything that makes you feel normal every day remains with you every day. But the mistake couples are making right now is The moment that spark is missing and they get to that normality phase, they feel bored. And now they look for spark somewhere else. They get the spark somewhere else, but then what happens in a few days to the spark? What happens to any pataka? What happens to any firecracker after some time? It fizzles out. And when things are normal again, people feel this is the wrong relationship. Let me find something else. Bad idea. The moment things are normal, that's when your relationship actually started. You haven't even begun the relationship until that spark is gone and until things get to normality. So the first step you need to do is do not look for sparks. Look for that phase in your relationship where everything seems normal. Boring is good. I'm telling you, boring is good. Ask a pilot who is an Air Force pilot. And who has become so good at his job that now flying for him is almost boring. Only that pilot is one of the most successful pilots in the world because he's become so good at it that it's almost boring for him to fly now. He can just do it like, like this. Get to that stage of your relationship. Now don't get me wrong, there are more things required to sustain that relationship. Now how to sustain that? Step number 2 and 3 is very important for that. But if you need a little bit of support from my side to help you understand what these lessons are and help you understand how you can really sustain your relationships and attract the right person in your life, I'm giving you first lesson of my Relationship Mastery Course completely free. It'll blow your mind. It's about, it's about the root cause of the problems in your relationships. Once you understand the root cause, and you dissolve that root cause problem, most of your relationships will work well, not just one. I promise you that. Go through that video. That first lesson is completely free for you. The link for that is below this video right now. Okay, so if you're ready for normality, type in the comments, I'm ready for a normal relationship. I'm ready for a long-term normal relationship. Now, step 2, how do you make this relationship bonded, like make it so powerful that 2 people don't feel like leaving each other. Write this down: fulfill each other's 7 needs. Yeah, write it down: fulfill each other's 7 needs. There are 7 bonding factors that make 2 people bonded to each other. The moment these 7 factors become loose, think of it like the layers of bond are getting loose and loose and loose, and eventually people will leave each other. These are 7 needs that you need to fulfill with each other. If I don't fulfill those 7 needs for you, you will not remain with me even on this YouTube channel. If you don't fulfill those 7 needs for me, I may not continue being with you as a coach. Why? Because every human being on this earth need these 7 needs to be with any person. Write down what these 7 needs are. Need number 1, comfort. We all need comfort in life, don't we? Question is that when I'm with you, do I feel comfortable or do I feel uncomfortable? Any person who makes you feel comfortable, you will always trust them more. Most people say develop trust in a relationship. I say first develop comfort in a relationship. The more comfortable you are with somebody, you reveal information to them which you don't reveal to anybody, right? So comfort is the first need you need to fulfill. Write down on a level of 1 to 10 How much are you fulfilling the need of comfort for your partner? And then you can write down how much is your partner fulfilling your need of comfort on a level of 1 to 10 for you. And you'll understand whether the bond is there or not there for the first need. Second need, change. As much as we need comfort, we need change in our relationships. We need to do new things together. We need to have fun. We need to have adventure. We need to have risk. We need to have new conversations. You know, fights is part of risk. It's part of adventure. Most people even avoid fights. Now, if everything has become too comfortable in your life and there is absolutely no change in your relationships, that's what a boring relationship is about. So consciously ask yourself this question: on a level of 1 to 10, how much am I fulfilling the need for change for my partner, and how much is my partner fulfilling my need for change on a level of 1 to 10? 10. Of course, when you come for the program of Relationship Mastery, I'll give you all of this more in detail, but write it down in brief for now. Point number 3, importance. Importance is also a need. Words like appreciation, acknowledgement, compliments, ego boosting, right? We all need it. Listen, when you like this video, I hope you will right now, and when you subscribe to this channel, which I hope you will right now, don't you think I like it? Of course, I love it. It gives me a sense of, wow, I did a good job. See, this person subscribed to my video. We all love receiving compliments. We all love receiving appreciation. Ask yourself, on a level of 1 to 10, how much am I fulfilling my partner's need of importance? Am I making my partner feel important every time they come close to me, or every time they come, I'm just busy in my own world? Versus I'm making them feel important. Now you'll be like, but what, am I supposed to give them compliments all the time? No, you're just supposed to fulfill their need a little bit, one time, and you're done, right? Like if somebody loves rasgulla, you don't give them rasgulla all the time, but you give them rasgulla once, make them feel satisfied. So if your partner comes to you and for the next 2 to 3 minutes also, if you could make them feel They are the center point of your entire life. Even for 2 to 3 minutes, more than enough. I have a platinum member. She was not getting along with her sister for quite few days, and every time her sister was fighting with her. So I told her, "I think your sister is missing acknowledgement from you." Next time your sister is fighting with you, just sit there, look in her eyes, and give her 10 minutes of presence. Just 10 minutes of presence. She responded back to me saying, "Mitesh, I don't know what happened." Now every time she fights with me, instead of fighting back, I sit with her. Everything she says, I listen, and I just give her presence of 10 minutes, and she feels so good. She said, it feels like my old sister is back. Isn't that amazing? Fulfill each other's needs of importance. Fourth. The fourth need is even more important. What is the first one? Comfort. What is the second one? Change. What is the third one? Importance. And what is the fourth one? Connection. Now you'll say, but Mitesh, that's what I'm missing right now. Well, you're not missing that right now. You're not taking conscious effort to build that connection. How do you build that connection? Similarities. The more you talk about similarities, the more you build connections. How? Like, think about those days when you met your friend for the first time and you Suddenly felt there was a sense of connection between you. How did you get that connection? Similarities. Like if you're in the flight and you ask the person sitting next to you, hey, where are you from? And they tell you the name of the place where you are from. What's your response? Oh really? I'm also from the same place. Where do you live? And you see, now starting a sense of connection with each other. Ask yourself, on a level of 1 to 10, how much are you fulfilling the need of connection, which means talking about similarities to your partner. When we don't talk about similarities at all, we automatically get into conflicts. Because look, if you don't build buildings, automatically there will be slums. If you don't create a garden, automatically there will be wild grass in that area. So you need to consciously build similarities and talk about similarities between each other. Okay, next, 5th one, growth. Are you helping your partner feel that because of your presence, your partner is growing? Only when you do that, your partner will feel bonded with you. So again, question you have to ask yourself is, on a level of 1 to 10, how much am I fulfilling the need of growth for my partner? Example, my partner is going to the job. How much do I encourage my partner to go to the next level of promotion? How much do I talk talk about their growth? How much do I help them towards their growth? How much do I contribute towards their growth? Makes sense? And of course, the question is also, how much does my partner help me fulfill my experience of growth? Okay, and then the next one, 6th one— serving. Yeah, really serving. Inside all of us, there is this feeling to serve. You know, one of the reasons— it may sound cliché, But one of the reasons I make these videos is because I love helping people. I just love it. It's something which has been natural to me for a long time, and I love doing it. And I promise you this, you love it too. Even you love helping people. It's natural for human beings to serve, to help. It's a need. So question you have to ask yourself is, on a level of 1 to 10, how much are you fulfilling your partner's need To serve. Now serve whom? To start with you. Some of you are so strong and independent, you don't let your partner serve you. Like I have seen girls who are so headstrong and independent, they don't let their partner even take them for a date properly. They say, no, I will share 50-50 because I'm independent. Some places it is okay for your partner to serve you, help you, support you, and then maybe even help your partner support other people in their life and encourage them for it. But many times what we do is When our partner is supporting somebody else, we say, why are you wasting your time supporting them? I'll tell you why they are doing it. They're not wasting time. They are fulfilling their need for serving. Makes sense? 7th and the biggest one. We also have a need for nothing. Now, this is one need which boys have more than girls, but they do. Let me explain. You will observe the one difference between girls and boys is In the brain of girls, everything connects to everything. And what I mean by everything connects to everything is they can take one topic and they can start talking about a second topic and they can suddenly talk about a third topic. And in their mind, everything connects. And boys don't understand this. They're like, अरे वो सब ठीक है but what has this got to do with that? Girls can connect. Now just like that, boys have a zone in their brain which is called as the nothing zone. For an example, sometimes boys will be just senselessly changing channel on the remote, like just senselessly changing. So many times you'll go to your partner and say, "क्या देख रहे हो?" They'll say nothing. कुछ नहीं। So there are many people, not many people, everybody in the world, including girls, sometimes wants space for themselves to do nothing. You'll observe men take a lot of time in the toilet. What are they doing? Do you really think they're doing the business that they went for? No, they're doing a lot of nothing. So that is why when you ask boys many times, क्या सोच रहे हो? What are you thinking? What's the answer you get? Nothing. And then you get irritated thinking, no, no, you must be thinking something. Everybody in the world needs a time and space for nothing. Give that space to people. It's good to have that space. Ask yourself, on a level of 1 to 10, how much are you fulfilling the need for nothing for your partner and your partner fulfilling for you? This has been an amazing video, but there is so much more to learn about this. I hope you will join me on this beautiful journey of relationship mastery.
