Andrew Wilson’s Meltdown Caught Live

Ralph Brewer breaks down Andrew Wilson's on-air meltdown during a "Whatever" podcast appearance, where Wilson called a female guest stupid, then erupted with profanity and a homophobic slur when she mentioned his wife's past relationships. Brewer compares it to the Will Smith Oscar incident and argues Wilson's outburst contradicts his public stance on traditional family values.

Andrew Wilson is a popular online commentator, content creator, debater, podcast host. Way more popular than I am, that's for sure. And has way better hair. Yes, totally jealous. Andrew is a big part of what you would call the red pill manosphere group of guys online. These are guys that are openly very conservative in nature, usually. Guys that openly talk about relationship stuff from a very male-centric point of view. But a lot of their material kind of steps on the necks of women, let's be honest. A lot of it is very empowering to men that feel otherwise very insecure about themselves and about relationships in general. So to hear material from men that basically says, "Hey, women kind of suck in a lot of ways and us men are really, really good in a lot of ways," is very attractive to a lot of guys, mostly youngish guys that have been hurt by women or older guys that have been, you know, raked over the coals in marriage and divorce divorce and everything else. It's human nature basically to point across the aisle and say, "It's them, them, them," and to seek out material that kind of propagates that message. I often refer to it as pain shopping. We have a lot of guys that have been, you know, cheated on and divorced and, you know, taken for all their money. And after the fact, what do they do is that they spend an inordinate amount of time watching videos, YouTube videos, and listening to podcasts and reading books about other men who have been cheated on and had all their money taken and et cetera, et cetera. These men get kind of quasi-addicted to taking in all of this negative material. And eventually most of the guys kind of grow out of that phase, kind of an anger phase, if you will, after enduring a trauma. That's a very normal thing to experience. But I'm digressing. Andrew is kind of part of that world. If you're a guy who is searching out information about how single mothers are bad, promiscuity is terrible, were experiencing the, the next downfall of Rome, if you will. If you've seeked out that kind of information and the algorithm has given you a lot of videos, you have probably seen Andrew come up more than once or twice. Well, Andrew's face has probably come up on your algorithm here, uh, recently in, in a big, big way. He was on the Whatever podcast, which is an extremely popular show. You can catch it on YouTube. They have a podcast. They have shows that last upwards of like 4, 5, 6 hours. So it must be really good stuff to put on a show that people listen to for 4, 5, 6 hours, right? Well, that's subjective, of course. But from what I can gather after watching clips from the show and trying to endure sitting down for, you know, more than a couple of minutes, the premise of Whatever is basically, hey, let's put a group of scantily clad younger women who apparently are all liquored up into a room, cram them into what appears to be a small room shoulder to shoulder, put a couple of kind of intelligent dudes in the room with them, and the dudes will spend the next few hours basically saying, you know, look at these dumb broads. I guess that's entertaining. Apparently so, because these guys get millions and millions of views. Not jealous at all. Well, Andrew was on the whatever show and kind of what appears to be kind of a one-on-one chat with a young lady who they refer to as Charlie, who Andrew repeatedly calls Chuck throughout the podcast. Charlie is apparently a gay woman, a lesbian, and she is confronting Andrew one-on-one in what appears to be an hours-long debate about all things, I guess, relationship-oriented life stuff.
And Andrew at one point says the following: I will never be able to convince you of my worldview.
You are.
I know, but the reason is not because I'm not a great orator or I don't make good points or I haven't said things which should be compelling to a person. But Charlie, I just think honestly you're too fucking stupid to understand them.
Okay, what a little, uh, preamble there to it. Charlie, sweetie, um, it's not that I'm not a— what did he say? A wonderful orator or whatever. It's like, in other words, Andrew is saying like, everything I'm saying to you should be making sense. That they went on like a little political back and forth about— I've tried to watch it, it was mind-numbingly awful, the back and forth. She wasn't listening. He has a point of view and he is not going to veer from it. Not a very good debate. So he's getting so frustrated with her that he basically says, I think you're just stupid. Right away, he's already lost the battle. He has boiled his argument down to, "I'm done with you. I'm done trying to convince you. You are at baseline just a very stupid individual." So, what we're gonna see is that Charlie here, apparently her real name is Rachel. I don't know where the Charlie came from. Maybe that's her nickname, but whatever. She has in her back pocket a little piece of information that she knows is going to get under his skin. And she was just waiting for the right moment to pull this out. He says, "Yeah, you're just really stupid. No wonder you don't get anything I'm trying to say." Obviously hurt her feelings. Who wouldn't be, you know, kind of pissed off by that or taken by surprise by that? Like, "Oh, okay, dude, here you go." And here's what she says next. So Andrew, can I sell you on my worldview?
Yes.
Your wife has 3 baby daddies and has been married twice before.
And you lick snizz.
Under your religion.
Uh-huh, you lick snizz.
What is that?
You're a fucking dyke. Don't talk shit about my wife, you stupid bitch. Shut your fuck—
Okay, this is where Andrew goes off the rails. This is where Andrew loses his cool. This is where Andrew loses the respect of a lot of people out there, and in my opinion, rightfully so. Dude just had his little Will Smith moment. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Will Smith— how long ago was this now, like a couple years ago? I should have researched this prior to bringing it up. Was it the Oscars? Some major award ceremony that was hosted by Chris Rock. And Chris Rock made a little joke aimed at Will Smith's wife. I think he was referencing the fact that she's basically shaved her head bald. And Will Smith, instead of doing what a lot of people said he should have done, which is maybe give Chris Rock the little like, don't do— don't go there, or kept his mouth shut and then waited till commercial and then approached Chris Rock and said, dude, don't bring up my wife. I don't appreciate it. Watch your freaking mouth. Instead, he got up on live television, walked up to the stage, and smacked the shit out of Chris Rock. Dude lost his cool, and he lost the respect of millions and millions of people with one stupid incident. What Will was doing was showing his cards. He was basically saying, I am very upset and I'm very on edge due to some marital strife between the wife and I. If you don't know, they aired out their dirty laundry for the whole world to see. His wife had an affair. She talked about it. She kind of belittled the fact that she was screwing some other guy in their own home. Will sat back very teary-eyed and watched this whole confession on television. He was basically made to be a fool in front of millions of people, and that obviously very much bothered him. So here comes Chris Rock in an awards ceremony making fun of his wife, and he blows his top. This is kind of what Andrew's doing here. How should Andrew have responded to what this woman's doing? Here's what I would say. Charlie here comes out and says, You, dude, Andrew, you've been espousing all of this family values stuff for years and years, talking, you know, talking bad about single mothers and everything else. Let's put it out there, buddy. Your wife had kids from 3 different men. I think Andrew is one of them. So 2 men prior to Andrew she was with— I don't know if she was married to them— and then the relationship disintegrated for whatever reason. She had a child with a guy, she moves on to another guy, same thing happens there, and And now she is with Andrew, which by the way, the particulars of what happened there in Andrew's wife's past relationships and all that other stuff, none of my freaking business. That's between Andrew and his wife. What Andrew thinks of that and everything else, also none of my freaking business. Maybe he's perfectly happy with her. They've worked through the issues. He's, you know, being Mr. Family Values conservative man, he's come to terms with it. Whatever it is, I don't give a shit. None of my business, none of Charlie's business. It is what it is. So what Andrew should have done is said basically, Charlie, I know where you're going with this. I can see how you think this is kind of an aha, gotcha moment, but here's where you're wrong. I love my wife. I love my kids, my stepkids, our— my biological kids all the same. I am very blessed to have the wife that I have. So if you think that you are catching me in an aha gotcha moment, or you think this is insulting, you couldn't be more wrong. I love my wife to death and I could talk about her all day long. That would be very disarming and that would be very masculine and that would be very strong of him to say. Instead, Andrew shows his cards. He is deep down bothered by this. So when somebody just points out the facts, like your wife had children with other men and now she's with you, he blows up. He becomes very infantile. He acts like a 12-year-old. He pulls out of his hat some weird saying of, "You lick sniz?" I've never even heard that before. And Charlie reacts the same way. She's like, "What does that even mean?" And then he drops the old D-word in reference to her sexuality. Major no-no. I would personally find that extremely insulting if I were her. And if I were the host, I would say, "Andrea, we don't go there with it. You're an adult. We're trying to have an adult and adult you know, debate here. We don't resort to that kind of name-calling, that bigotry, if you will. I personally think a lot less of Andrew. I really didn't know much about him prior to this, but I think a lot less of him based on just this few seconds of audio. His reaction, it shows basically when he is cornered and he lashes out, you can see what he's really made of. He is at baseline kind of a hurt little kid, and that hurt little kid is coming out right now. Calling her names, using little childish phrases, showing his anger. You can see he is vehemently hurt by what she has to say, which is just basically, hey, your wife was married before and she had kids with somebody else before. Yeah, so what? I love her and I love the kids. Let this be a lesson to you guys. I talk about this in my latest book, Rebuild, and you can learn more at readrebuild.com or search for Rebuild and my name, Ralph Brewer, on Amazon. But I talk about a lot of this nonsense around you where people try to pigeonhole you and put you into a corner and label you a certain way. It really doesn't mean anything if you have a strong sense of identity and a strong sense of values. Values are something that are really big in Andrew's world, in the world of conservative commentators, especially in the world of relationship talk. You know, they talk about men should do this and women should do this, and this is the proper way to, you know, to run a nuclear family, the importance of community and the importance of religion and so on and so forth. If that is really, really genuinely strong within you and somebody comes up to you and says, "Oh yeah, boom, how about this information?" You just smile and go, "Yeah, that falls within my identity. That falls within my values. What are you getting at here exactly? I see no problem with that. And here's why I think this aligns with my values and who I am." I think by Andrew's visceral reaction, he may be showing in fact that, yeah, I know it doesn't really align with my values or my stated values and my stated identity, and that's why I'm acting so viscerally angry to it. Kind of something to ponder there, guys. Andrew later goes back to her to try and flip things and say, what are you trying to say, Charlie, that me having stepkids and a wife who was married before is morally bankrupt and wrong? If so, that's on you, Charlie, not me. No, dude, what she's doing is trying to catch you in a hypocritical moment. The red pill guys, of which Andrew is most definitely aligned with, being that he's on this whatever podcast and he's out of the Fresh and Fits and all these other guys on the shows and so forth. One big thing that they push over and over and over again is how suboptimal single mothers are, how they should be avoided, how they are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the mating game. How when you get with them, you're just inheriting all these problems from their past relationships and the children and everything else. Some men in that world— I'm not saying Andrew said this— but some men in that world have even said, uh, you are the lowest form of male if you take on the responsibility of some other guy's biological children, that that's the ultimate form of cuckoldry, if you will. So this was a great opportunity for Andrew to reframe things calmly and and say, let me show you how this aligns perfectly with all the things that I've espoused all these years and how I love my kids and how I love my wife, et cetera, et cetera. Instead, he did what you see here. What Charlie is pointing out is, I'm trying to think of a good analogy here, is if some woman was really, you know, insulting me online about being bald, which by the way happens all the time, hurts my feelings, I'm not gonna lie. Let's say this woman just berates me every day in my comments of my videos about Baldi, baldi, dumb baldi. You look like a testicle. You look like an egg. You look like a toe. You look like a thumb. I've heard all these things, by the way. And then let's say I do a little digging and I find out that this woman's like husband is bald. Her father's bald. Everybody, all the males in her family are bald. And then I dig in her history and I see all of her past relationships were with bald men. And then I point it out to the woman and go, what's with the bald dudes? You've been, you know, very anti-bald dude to me all these years. "Look at this. What's up with this?" And then the woman comes back and says, "Why? Are you trying to say bald men are bad all of a sudden?" It's like, "No, I'm just trying to point out the hypocrisy here." That's what Charlie's doing here. She's pointing out how, "Dude, you've aligned yourself with this world, and some of your material seems to point out that single mothers are suboptimal, yet look at this, dude. Explain this." So we had a very real, powerful opportunity to explain it. And to reframe things and to show how it fits within his worldview as a conservative male. But he didn't. He dropped the ball big time. In fact, if I'm him, I go on this show or whatever show and just say, hey, you know what, let me set my ego aside. Charlie, that was really shitty of me to do. That wasn't strong of me. That wasn't Christian of me. That wasn't very adult of me. I resorted to name-calling because, yeah, you hurt my feelings. I'm human. It is what it is. So Charlie, I apologize, you know, and guys, I let you all down. That, that's not who I am. And then maybe take the opportunity to explain the wife and the relationship and how you met and everything else to show like this is perfectly acceptable, guys. Just an idea. So guys, what do you think about this situation? Did Andrew really drop the ball? Was he just, as a lot of guys in the comments say, just reacting very viscerally to what was a very purposely hurtful comment from Miss Charlie here, and he had every right to take gloves off and go after her. Whatever you may think, let's hear it, guys, in the comments.
