A short YouTube conversation among members of Real Estate Team OS about setting personal boundaries and managing work–family time. Speakers describe using do-not-disturb windows (e.g., 3–7pm) and delegating calls so evenings are reserved for family, and discuss how to reset client expectations around availability (e.g., work hours 8am–3pm).
If you ask one of my partners in my office, Joe, he'll tell you you can't reach Tony between four and seven o'clock every day. Luckily, again, I'm leveraged so somebody will be there to answer the phone so that service doesn't drop. However, that is my time for my children. That's my time for my wife. That's my time for my sanity.
I love that you said that because I also put my phone on do not disturb every day from three to seven. So I have three kids and I would be like, working through the evenings, right? And they're like, mommy, mommy, you know, I need your attention. I'm like, one more call. This is really important. This client really needs me. And then I wasn't showing up as the best agent or business owner. And I also wasn't showing up as the best mom. And I looked at it and I'm like, that's seven hours. Like, eight to three is seven hours. Like, there's no reason that I can't get all of this done.
Bri, I actually had a question on with how you reset those expectations with your clients from eight to three. Like, how did you go about doing that? And how did your clients take that?
Reacts.
Yeah.
