Short YouTube discussion (Real Estate Team OS) advising real estate agents on generating repeat and referral business. Core advice: ask for referrals when a client thanks you after a well-delivered service (including multiple times during transaction and post-close), and avoid the generic question "who do you know…" because it places the burden on the client.
How are you training agents to generate repeat and referral business?
Ask for the referral.
When, like when do you know that when someone says thank you?
Yeah, when someone says thank you. When you've delivered a good service and the customer says thank you, you should be asking for a referral. So hopefully multiple times throughout the transaction and post close.
And how it's asked for is key, right? Because let's put it out there. Most agents don't like to ask but that's because in our industry, the industry has trained us all to say who do you know is looking to buy, sell or invest in real estate? That question is bs. It doesn't work. When was the last time you asked that question you actually got an answer? It's probably few and far between because what is happening in that moment is you're putting the responsibility on the other individual to do your work for you.
