Short YouTube video (Real Estate Team OS) discussing a recruiting hurdle in real estate: firms expect new agents to work long hours (about 40–60 hours/week) and often receive no pay for an initial period ("for like 90 days, maybe longer"), making it hard to hire talent. Speakers recount recruiting attempts and candidates opting for part-time or declining due to unpaid startup demands.
Real estate is probably the only industry, the only one that I know of, that does not offer any kind of compensation to people that come to work for them as they're starting out. We're hiring these agents and we're saying.
Hey, I.
Need you to work probably 40 to maybe 60 hours a week.
If you really want to be successful.
In this business and you want to.
Get a really good jump.
But you're not going to get paid.
For like 90 days, maybe longer.
So I hope that works out for you.
So it's.
So hard to hire talent. And I had gone through.
Several situations where I was recruiting somebody from another industry that.
I thought had amazing potential.
That was really interested in real estate.
And then we kind of started digging.
In and talking about stuff, and it wouldn't work out because they would say, well, I'm going to have to do it part time. And a lot of times when agents start out part time, I know there's.
Plenty of successful agents that have done.
This, but I would say the majority of people give up before they get success.
