06 - Family Shackles Part 1

This is a YouTube video titled "06 - Family Shackles Part 1" created in April 2014, featuring a guided session by Kathy and Tim focused on exploring and releasing limiting beliefs and emotional blocks around money. The content involves a therapeutic tapping exercise aimed at transforming participants' relationship with money by addressing childhood and cultural conditioning. The session is instructional and reflective, designed to help viewers recognize and shift their subconscious money-related fears and conflicts.
Welcome back. You're doing great. This is really challenging for a lot of people. We're looking at cultural beliefs and ideas that are ingrained from birth and you've been swimming in the soup since then. We'll be going into that in just a minute. But first I want to remind you that you're looking at money in a new way. And as long as you can keep going back to that, it's kind of like Teflon. Some of those old beliefs aren't going to stick as well. The old beliefs were stuck on money being power over, controlling and not necessarily gotten in a very high integrity way. We have new ways to get money now. And if we think of money as stored energy, think about it. You can store all different kinds of energy. You can store high integrity money or low integrity money or low integrity energy. And we are people that want to have integrity. So if you've rejected money in the past, if you've had conflict about it, you are probably so tuned in and you were just super smart, you were rejecting that old concept of money, which we reject too. We don't want that. We don't want to force anybody or take from anybody. We want to exchange value in a way that makes everybody celebrate and win. And that kind of stored energy is so delightful.
We're at a place where in the world right now you have access to contrast about money. You have people who are using their money in ways that dominate and control others. And you have people that are using their wealth as a way to make it better for everyone, including some of the most disadvantaged people on the planet. And we're a global community. We're connected. Our little business is reaching out to over 20 countries around the world, across all the time zones. That's an extraordinary opportunity. And it means that each of you has had your own experience of what money was like as a child. And you have things that you're very clear about that you don't want. And abundance is about tuning that, honoring. And what we're going to be doing in this session is we're going to be honoring where you came from, especially where you came from as an early child. And then we're going to be tuning that energy in a direction. That's what tapping does. You'll notice that the tapping formula is about honoring a feeling that you have. Money is evil. Well, yeah, there's a part of me that feels that that is true. I'm shifting it to it can be true and then it can be. Well, it's not true for me. At all. Because that's not the intention that I set for it. So we're going to be doing tapping in. That way we get to perceive contrast and we get to create transformation. That's what you're doing right now. Inside yourself, you're tuning into not only your thoughts about money, but also your primitive brain, your gut, and your guts. A knower about what's right for you. You have a gut reaction if you start heading toward a cliff. Right. We go, oh, oh. You feel it in your lower body. Right. It's like, don't go there. And for many of us who are lover, co creator types, anything that's moving toward a place where we're going to be hurting, harming other people, we will never want to go there. And sometimes that can mean cutting us off from a flow. There is another flow. That's what we're tuning to right now.
Yeah. And as you're tuning into this, we're going to go into that soup that you grew up in. Just a minute. But remember that money doesn't have to be evil. It depends on what the intention it is. I love that. And how you accumulated it. And there's plenty for everybody. And that's another reason a lot of this comes up is because our parents may not have had good conduits to allow abundance in. And if there's not enough of anything, it is selfish for someone to keep. Like, if there's not enough food, it's.
Really selfish to keep more.
Hoard it, then you need it. There really is, you know, money is a way to convey value to each other. And. And there's no limit on how we can create value. So if someone chooses to keep a lot of money, that doesn't mean there's less for you, really. Even though that's the concept we have. The universe can create more value and more abundance all the time.
Shall you lead us into tapping on that? Yeah. Just to get started.
Okay. So take a nice deep breath. Feel your feet on the floor. Feel your butt in the chair and feel your fingers as you tap. And let the universe help you with this one. This is a challenge. So. But if you can get this, it's gonna make a huge difference. Karate chop. Even though I was taught there isn't.
Enough, Even though I was taught there isn't enough.
Everybody talks about the struggle.
Everyone talks about the struggle and the conflict. And the conflict.
And Bob got a job, but Jim didn't.
And Bob got a job, but Jim didn't.
That's so scary.
That's so Scary.
I'm afraid I won't know where to get mine.
I'm afraid I won't know where to get mine.
What if there's nothing left?
What if there's nothing left?
What if I take too much and someone else suffers?
What if I take too much and someone else suffers?
And what if there's plenty for everyone.
And what if there's plenty for everyone.
And I'm just creating a lot of.
Conflict for myself and I'm creating and tuning into a lot of conflict for myself.
Top of the head. Some of those conduits are pretty small.
Some of those conduits are pretty small eyebrows.
So there isn't a lot of abundance.
So there isn't a lot of abundance.
Side of the eye. If I want to make eight track.
Tapes if I want to make eight track tapes under the eye, there's not.
A big conduit for abundance.
There's not a big conduit for abundance there.
Under the nose. I may struggle.
I may struggle, Tim, but if I.
Want to create beautiful music, if I.
Want to create beautiful music.
Colorblind, there's lots of ways to reach.
Abundance there's lots of ways to reach.
Abundance under the arm. In fact, I can reach more people that want to enjoy my music now.
In fact, I can reach more people that want to enjoy my music now.
Top of the head. Than I ever could in the history of mankind.
Than I ever could in the history of mankind.
Eyebrow. That is abundance.
That is abundance.
Side of the eye. Maybe there's plenty for everyone Maybe there.
Is plenty for everyone under the eye.
I don't have to carry goats around.
With me I don't have to carry goats around with me under the nose.
To exchange for my dinner.
To exchange for my dinner.
Kin. Or my bride.
Or my bride.
Collarbone. I get to express my value in.
The world I get to express my value in the world under the arm.
And let all kinds of abundance flow to me.
And let all kinds of abundance flow to me.
Top of the head. And I'm willing to be open to that.
I'm willing to be open to that.
Take a nice deep breath and realize that some yeah. Buts might have come up for you when you did that.
Even some huge ones.
Yeah. Write them down and tap on them because those are going to stand in the way of you allowing what's really a beautiful amount of abundance out there in the world just to come to you.
We are in a transformational period and I think honoring that, that there's a. There are people like Kathy And I and you that are drawn to a different relationship with money. And there are people that really love the competition, the status that comes from having more than your neighbor, more than others. And those energies are present at the same time. But we do have an opportunity here to start tuning more and more to people that want to play and engage in a loving way. So, for example, if I listen, if I'm walking into the grocery store and there's someone playing music, I'm part of the appreciation crowd. And I understand that this person also probably wants to buy groceries that week. And so I go over and I give some money to them. It's not charity. It's. If I like the energy of them sharing song into the world at that place, I go and share from that and circulate and engage that way. Now, shackles would have you stand there appreciating the music, but feeling that I don't have enough. I can't. There's a resistance. There's a.
Or I might not even allow myself to enjoy the music because I don't feel like I can contribute there.
Yeah. So do you want to tune now to the primordial soup that you were conceived into?
Yeah. And remember, you weren't born with any shames or guilt around money. It was just something that was there.
Right. It was something that you had to figure out in the same way that you had to figure out how to eat. What is a spoon used for? Is it used for knock, knock, knock, or is it used for putting yummy food in your mouth? And so we pick up on the energy of money. I've come to realize from the time of conception, if your parents had tremendous fear around this energy toward money, you're going to start picking it up as you're forming, as you're born and they're confronting the doctor bills or the expenses of getting things for you. What happened?
Yeah. And it's not always just about money. As a child, it's about what you are allowed to have. So if your parents were really struggling, even with time and attention, you felt like you had to compete with your brother or sister for that you weren't getting your needs and wants met. It can create a lack mentality. And if your parents shamed you or guilted you, which are great ways to control you for wanting more attention or wanting that ice cream or wanting to go play when your brother was trying to get to sleep, then you learn that you don't deserve it. You don't deserve that abundance, whether it's money or attention. Or a yummy ice cream cone.
And this is one of the things that is such a consistent response that we get when we ask people about money and all the good qualities of life is there's that feeling of I don't deserve it. And that is a shackle. So let's do some tapping on it. I'd like you to imagine that you have more abundance in your life than you currently do. Okay? The things start flowing to you and then I'd like you to just say out loud, I don't deserve it. What happens in your body? Where's the contraction? Do you breathe or do you stop breathing? Do you feel light or do you feel heavy? I don't deserve it. And let's do some tapping. You've tuned into it. If you want to give it a number, 0 to 10, that's great. I don't deserve it. Even though a part of me is convinced that I don't deserve more abundance.
Even though part of me is convinced I don't deserve more abundance.
And if I don't deserve it, and if I don't deserve it, someone will take it away.
Someone will take it away.
Or I need to give it away.
Or I need to give it away.
Or I certainly can't feel good about it.
Or I certainly can't feel good about it.
That feeling is very old.
That feeling is very old.
It's a rusty, nasty shackle.
It's a rusty, nasty shackle.
Top of the head. This I don't deserve it feeling.
This I don't deserve it feeling.
Eyebrow. They told me I didn't deserve it.
They told me I didn't deserve it.
Side of the eye. They told me I didn't deserve it.
They told me I didn't deserve it.
And it shut me down. And it shut me down under the nose. And it bound me up.
And it bound me up.
I'm so tired of being bound.
I'm so tired of being bound.
What if I do deserve more abundance?
What if I do deserve more abundance?
What if it doesn't have to do with deserving at all?
What if it doesn't have to do with deserving at all?
Top of the head. They used that to shut me down.
They use that to shut me down.
And I acknowledge and respect all that that's meant to me.
And I acknowledge and respect all that that's meant to me. Nice deep breath now. One of the things I noticed when we tapped on that was an inner conflict. There was part of me that feels, you know, there's a part it's gotten much quieter over the years. All the tapping I've done. There's like a two or three. I don't deserve it when I think about going to the next level. But there's also part of me that's like, oh, no, don't say that. It's not true. There's part of me that really wanted, you know, it feels like I do want that. So as part of that bad feeling you may have in your body, maybe that. Yeah, that's like pushing, pulling at each other. So realize that the part of you that knows you deserve it is celebrating and loving you and trying to help you move forward. And the part of you that's trying to hold you back, loves you just as much, is just trying to keep you safe. The only way it knows how. It learned from your cultural soup that it wasn't safe to have too much. And so it's like your primitive brain. The part of you is like, no, no, no, don't do that. You're going to get beat up by somebody emotionally or energetically or physically, depending on what your cultural soup was. So when you feel that part of you that says, I don't deserve it, rather than beating it up, which was always my thing, like, why do I have that? So stupid. I would beat that part of me up. Let's just do just a little bit of tapping. Because this is so critical. Let's just do a little bit of tapping, appreciating that part of you. So tune into the part of you that's saying, I don't deserve this.
I don't deserve this.
Yeah, just tune into the part of you that's holding that energy for you. Take a nice deep breath and let's do some tapping. Karate chop. Hey, part of me.
Hey, part of me.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
I don't listen to you very often.
I don't listen to you very often.
And I yell at you and I.
Yell at you, and I hate you. And sometimes I really hate you.
I definitely resent you.
I resent you.
And I'm realizing that you mean really well.
I'm starting to realize that you mean really well.
You've worked really hard at this.
You've worked really hard at this.
Because I want more abundance.
Because I do want more abundance.
I put a lot of work into it.
I've put a lot of work.
And you could never let your guard down.
And you can never let your guard down.
You've worked hard to keep me safe.
You've worked hard to Keep me safe.
And I want to appreciate you right now.
And I want to appreciate you right now.
Top of the head. Thank you for that. Thank you for that eyebrow. I love that you want to keep me safe.
I love that you want to keep me safe.
Side of the eye. And I appreciate it, how hard you've worked.
And I appreciate how hard you've worked.
Under the eye. I have really good news for you.
I have really good news for you.
Under the nose. It's safe now.
It's safe now.
And it wasn't safe back then.
It wasn't safe back then.
Collarbone, you were really smart.
You were really smart.
Under the arm. You did the right thing.
You did the right thing.
Top of the head. You protected me all those years.
You protected me all those years.
I wrote and I'd love your help now.
And I'd love your help now.
Side of the eye. Because I know you're powerful.
Because I know you're powerful.
Under the eye. Would you help me allow more abundance.
Would you help me allow more abundance?
Under the nose. Would you help me create more value for the world?
Would you help me create more value for the world?
Chin. In a way that's really right for my self expression.
For a way that's really right for my self expression.
Collarbone, I appreciate all you've done in the past.
I appreciate all you've done in the past.
Under the oven. I invite you to help me create something new.
I invite you to help me create something new.
Top of the head. A world where we can have all kinds of abundance and creation A world.
Where we can have all kinds of abundance and creation together. Together.
Nice, deep breath. A lot of times when you have that conflict, that push, pull, it's really just two sides of the same coin. And when you can find out what the intention is, the part of you that wants you to have more abundance wants you to celebrate and live a really safe, joyful life. The part of you that's been trying to not let you have abundance, saying you didn't deserve it, it wants you to be safe and have a joyful life. And when you can just help them see the same perspective, release the old shackle that was holding it in place, you suddenly have two engines helping you go where you want to go rather than just one.
It is confusing to be raised where things that are essentials, like food and love may have been withheld with the excuse that you didn't deserve it, you hadn't earned it. And unfortunately, because deserving and earning are so tied in our Language to money and gifts and things that money buys. Well, guess what? That does create a subconscious shackle. And so if this was a big part of your life, treat it with the respect that it being a big part of your growing up deserves. Think about the ways that things were withheld or that you had to earn or could never earn something that was dear to you, something that was right for you to have as a natural part of being in a healthy ecosystem. I mean, so many of us, our ecosystem wasn't perfect. It was perhaps filled with conflict and anxiety and worry and stresses. And in that kind of survivalist poverty energy, guess what? It's not a healthy environment to feel good about the flow of abundance. And this is what we're doing. By taking off the shackles, it allows you to move into a different space. But tapping. And the work that we're doing is about recognizing and looking at ourselves. What shackles do I have on? So we had that primordial soup that you were conceived into, and you grew into a human being and you were born. What about from 0 to 3? If you have any recollection or sense? And this is a case where it may not even be a verbal or a visual memory, because from zero to three, a lot of what we're picking up is energetic, it's emotional. And so if you see. If you see plates and they were being thrown against the wall, you would relate plates with having to duck violence. What was it like around money?
Yeah, so let's stop here and come back and guide them a little bit deeper into that great, really great work. And we're so excited about what you're learning and doing for your life right now.
