What's Next - Stress Relief on Tap

Kathy shares practical techniques for managing stress: tapping, grounding, and breathing exercises. She walks through emotional self-management methods you can use right now to calm down and feel better.
Before we get into what's next, I want to congratulate you. You stand out as someone who is interested in their own emotional self management. You know, when each of us develops the capacity to take care of our own stresses and strains, even if we can drop it from a 9 to a 6, we change the environment around us. It enhances our relationships. It gives us greater clarity about what our heart and our gut may also be suggesting in any situation. When I think about what's next, what I'd like to communicate to you is that the tapping, the grounding, the breathing, these are things like washing hands. You know, when we get something sticky and icky on our hands, we go and wash it. We get it off, even if we have to scrub a little bit. Let me tell you a story. When I first discovered tapping, I started using it on things that were causing me stress. And I decided that over a six month period of time that I would, when I started feeling anxious and stressed, worried that I would tap on it at least one round. So even though the laundry is right there, they left it there again. And I'm starting to feel all stressed. I choose to be calm and confident no matter what. Breathe, tap. Now, I did this and I started getting some feedback from family and friends. But one of the most interesting things was that there were people that I made friends with over the years to come who sometimes would describe me as being calm and confident even when times got tough. Now, people that had known me, you know, years before did not typically describe me that way. I was intense. I was sometimes really stressed, frustrated. This was a turning point in my life and it's one of the reasons why tapping became something that I do. When I feel that rising energy that we call stress, and I do it a lot of times, I'll just tap my collarbone. The flight was canceled. I'll just start tapping my collarbone and in a few minutes, what I notice is my body has become conditioned to know what I want. I want to be calm and confident no matter what. Of course, I'm not calm and confident no matter what happens. But I'll tell you, a lot of the intensity that used to come out as stress comes out as enthusiasm and playfulness and creativity. Creativity. Now, I really would love for you to get to tune your energy in a way that you want to tune it when you are capable of being stressed. It means you have a lot of energy to use. And when you use tapping and these other approaches, you get to direct the energy in a way that is nourishing for you in your body, in your world. And for those of us that share this world with you, we have some resources as well. Some other ideas, please check out the resource section and I'd love to hear your comments. What's alive for you?
