Sleep Now - 2.2 - I Do Not Want To Go To Bed Tapping

A guided tapping meditation where two speakers use call-and-response to help you work through resistance to bedtime. The session uses tapping exercises to ease inner conflict about sleep and build better sleep habits.
I don't want to go to bed. That's something that comes up over and over again. I still, to this day, will sometimes look at the clock and see that it's time or a little bit past my bedtime, what I'd like to go to bed as. And there's that inner conflict, the part of me that wants to be the adult and take myself off to bed. And that younger me that just, like, I don't want you. I want to watch another TV program. I want to play. I worked hard today. All that stuff comes up. And acknowledging that genuine feeling that's there for many of us, that probably started when we were little and our parents were like, it's time to go to bed. Just acknowledging it and letting yourself feel it takes it from the subconscious, where it has a lot of power and a lot of emphasis, to the conscious, where you can make better decisions. It doesn't mean that you may not choose to stay up sometimes, but you're making a choice rather than just fighting an old pattern that started when you were really young. So let's do some tapping. Take a nice, slow, deep breath. And I love it when you. If you can feel your feet on the floor, wiggle your toes and your butt in the seat. What we do when we do that, if you can be really conscious, is getting you back in your body so the tapping can be even more powerful. So take another nice, slow, deep breath. Karate chop. Even though I do not want to.
Go to bed, Even though I do not want to go to bed.
And you can't make me.
You can't make me.
I'm open to getting some rest, too.
I'm open to getting some rest, too.
And maybe making good decisions for me.
And maybe making good decisions for me.
Even though I do not want to go to bed.
Even though I do not want to go to bed right now.
And you cannot make me.
And you can't make me.
I'm tired of having this inner conflict.
I am so tired of having this inner conflict.
And I don't like waking up exhausted.
And I do not like waking up exhausted.
What if I could be more gentle.
What if I could be more gentle.
And take better care of myself?
And take better care of myself?
The truth is I do not want to go to bed.
The truth is I don't want to go to bed.
But I never made that a fun place for me to go.
But I never really made it a fun place for me to go.
I treat TV and food as fun and entertaining.
I treat TV and Food as fun and entertaining.
I'd rather play on the computer or check Facebook.
I'd rather play on the computer or check Facebook.
What if I could treat going to bed as a reward?
What if I could treat softly going to bed as a reward?
A chance to renew and release?
A chance to renew and release.
Top of the head. That would be different.
That would be different.
Eyebrow. That's different than being forced to go to bed.
That is so different from being forced to go to bed.
Side of the I. I don't want to go to bed.
I don't want to go to bed.
Under the eye. I don't want to go to the old bed.
I don't want to go to the old bed.
Under the nose. The place where I was forced to go to sleep.
The place where I was forced to go to sleep.
Chin. And I didn't know how to transition myself to rest.
And I did not know how to transition myself to rest.
Collarbone. What if I could gently transition myself.
What if I could gently transition myself.
Under the arm and allow myself to release the day?
And allow myself to release the day?
Top of the head. I might like to go to that new kind of sleep.
I really might like to go to that kind of sleep.
And I'm open to giving it a try.
And I'm open to giving it a try.
Take a nice deep breath. And we encourage you to tap along with this. Anytime you're feeling this kind of resistance that the way your brain works, the more times you tap on it, tap on it two or three times, it starts being integrated into your head. If it's coming up, just listen to this recording and clear it out. Because fighting with yourself is a waste of energy and it doesn't help you move forward. And we really like to congratulate you because you're doing such a great job. Most people spend their entire lives fighting with themselves and building up patterns of resistance, you're doing something different. You're getting your whole being aligned where you want to go. And that takes the sandpaper out of your shoes, so to speak. It makes life a lot more fun. So keep up the great work and we'll see you on the next tapping round.
