Sleep Now - 2.4 - Not Enough Done Tapping

A guided tapping meditation for people anxious about unfinished tasks before bed. Two speakers alternate calming phrases to help you release stress and let go of the day's incompleteness so you can actually sleep.
I can't go to sleep. I didn't get enough done. I think we pick up that energy starting from when we're pretty little. I remember my mom staying up really late night after night trying to get ready for Christmas one year, or trying to get everything done. And the energy of kind of frantic, trying to push yourself past exhaustion. Even if it's done in love, we can absorb it and it can be part of our energy. And I don't know about you, but I have a to do list that's a mile long most of the time. And I have some news that's good and bad. The good part of it is you don't have to do it all. The bad news is you can't do it all. We are kind of taught by media and all the things that people teach us that if you just push hard enough, you can get it all done. And that means that people are often trying to accomplish far more than they can. We encourage you to be mindful and choose what you're doing, but for right now, we're focusing on the fact that you can't go to sleep because you didn't get everything done. I know that I've done that, and I've stayed up late and struggled to get everything done. And I've made mistakes or taken twice as long to do things. And when I've let myself get the rest I need, I wake up in the morning and I can get some of those things done in two minutes. Or I might look at it and go, you know what? That never needs to get done. It was just my primitive brain on overdrive, feeling like if I didn't organize a sock drawer, the world would come crashing down. So we'd like to do some tapping with you right now. Take a nice deep breath. And with any of these tappings, feel free to invite your younger self, the self that saw your mother or father rushing around, who modeled this or the feeling when you were younger, when you were doing your homework and you hadn't gotten it done, invite those younger selves to tap with you and let them release the energy directly. Another nice, slow, deep breath. Karate chop. Even though I can't sleep, Even though I can't sleep, I didn't get enough done.
I did not get enough done.
I don't even deserve to sleep.
I don't even deserve to sleep because.
I didn't get my jobs done.
Because I didn't get my jobs done.
What if I could take a nice deep breath?
What if I could take a nice.
Deep breath and let myself really rest.
And let myself really rest.
Because then I might make better decisions.
Because then I would make better decisions.
And I'd have perspective on what really needs to get done.
And I'd have perspective on what really needs to be done.
Even though I feel too frantic to.
Sleep, Even though I feel too frantic.
To sleep, I have too much left to do.
I have way too much left to do.
I choose to allow sleep to be one of my priorities, I choose to.
Allow sleep to be one of my.
Priorities and I let myself release this.
Energy and I let myself release this.
Energy so my mind and body can rest and renew.
So my mind and body can rest.
And renew even though I can't possibly sleep.
Even though I can't possibly sleep.
I'm too frantic.
I'm too frantic.
There's too much to do.
There's too much to do.
I have all this anxiety.
I have all this anxiety.
What if that's a sign that I truly need to sleep?
What if that's a sign that I truly need to sleep?
I've seen kids that are hyperactive I've.
Seen kids that are hyperactive and really overtired. And really overtired.
That's kind of the energy I have right now.
That's kind of the energy I have right now.
So I choose to lovingly send myself.
To bed so I choose to lovingly.
Send myself to bed and let myself get the rest.
And let myself get the rest.
Top of the head. There's so much to do.
There is so much to do.
Eyebrow. What if that's a good thing?
What if that's a really good side of the eye?
I'm not bored.
I'm not bored.
Under the eye. I'm very creative.
I'm very creative.
Under the nose. I can come up with so many different ways to spend my time.
I can come up with so many different ways to spend my time.
Jen. And it's okay to send my overtired self to bed.
And it's really okay to send my overtired self to bed.
Collarbone. If I get some rest, I'll make better decisions.
If I get some rest, I will make better decisions.
Under the arm. And I can be conscious about what I choose to do.
And I can be conscious about what I choose to do.
Top of the head. I can allow myself to rest.
I can allow myself to rest.
I'll be more efficient.
I'll be more efficient.
And far happier.
And far happier.
Nice deep breath. One of the approaches I use is if my brain is really scrambling, I write down the things that are most important that I'm afraid I'll lose out or miss in the morning. And I try to do those things first in the morning, but I let myself write them down so they're not breathing like hamsters in my head and swirling around. And I let that piece of paper hold it for me so I don't have to be holding it in my head. That can be really useful. And if you have trouble going to sleep, how would you treat an overtired child? You soothe them. You don't just throw them in bed and yell at them, which some of our parents might have done when they were exhausted themselves. See if you can soothe that child to sleep. Let them know what they did do right. Think of the things you did do today because you showed up for this tapping. If nothing else, you did something wonderful for yourself. We really appreciate you.
