Sleep Now - 4.1 - Soothing Sleep Interrupts

This is a YouTube video titled "Sleep Now - 4.1 - Soothing Sleep Interrupts" created in June 2015, featuring Rick Wilkes and another speaker discussing techniques to manage and soothe sleep interruptions. The content is instructional, focusing on understanding sleep cycles, emotional responses to waking at night, and practical tapping exercises to improve sleep quality.
Welcome back. This is week four, and you are rocking it. If you're here, you've dug into some really deep stuff that the majority of humans never look at, never consider. A lot of them don't even know it's there to ignore. They're just unaware. So you're doing great, and we're really proud of you. These processes take a little while. You may have had decades of habit, so it's going to take a couple weeks or a couple months to unwind this. Please don't be frustrated. Well, you can be frustrated if you be what you are. But don't give up on yourself. Realize that this does take a little while to unwind. You have muscle memory and synapses that are all programmed to react the way you've always reacted. And by being gentle with yourself and saying, yeah, that's how I used to be, and I'm open to changing, and this is how I'm going to release gives you so much more. And you can start creating this freedom for yourself. And when you get the freedom, when you dig deep in one area like sleep, and start clearing that up and start sleeping better, you give yourself confidence. That's one of the problems when people bounce all over working on a lot of different things. They never get deep enough to see success. And success breeds confidence. And that gives you the energy to go forward and do other things. And there's so much. There's so much for you to do. If you're here, if you're hearing my voice and Rick's voice, you are drawn to us because you have a warm, generous heart. And there's something vital and very, very important to the world inside of you. And that's one of the reasons we do this work, is because we want to help you release it, because the world needs you. We're so proud of you being here and doing this work, even though it's scary. So please keep working at it and discover the part of you that's been hidden under fatigue and frustration.
In this module, we're talking about soothing sleep interruptions. And I know that when I used to wake up in the middle of the night, I would start up a mantra. I can't believe it happened again. I'm never going to get back to sleep. So frustrating. Other times, I would wake up suddenly from something that might be in a dream, it might be a sound, it might be just waking up. And the first thing we want to do to help soothe you is to recognize that sleep is in cycles. And that's not something that I grew up with the idea that a sleep cycle of about two, two and a.
Half hours, some people say an hour and a half.
It varies, it varies and it's depends person to person too. Whatever your sleep cycle is, there are periods after a cycle, before the next one starts, where you might be a little lighter sleeping, you might have a signal from your body. So the first thing we want to remind you is that just as we've been taking you through a process of soothing what happened in the beginning, that kind of feeling intentions that you had early on as a child, and then making the transition in sleep and being comfortable to yourself, if you do wake up in the middle of the night, feel into your body. I think the general pattern of us as humans is to react in our heads. Our primitive brain gets into it. The hamster starts squeaking, oh my gosh. If you ask your body, do I need to change positions? Is it time for a quiet glide to the bathroom and back? Am I needing some water? As you do that, it really does send a different kind of signal. You're really reprogramming and sometimes you're almost reparenting yourself. Especially if you found module one to be very intense. In this module, recognize that what happened when you woke up in the middle of the night can be sticking with you. It can be an expectation of, okay, now I'm awake and I'm not supposed to be. So as we've been, as we're talking here, what's coming up for you? It might be a good idea to grab a pen and just write down a few things. What goes through your mind when you wake up in the middle of the night and you didn't want to. How were you treated as a child when you woke up in the middle of the night?
And I encourage you if you think this doesn't relate to you, this part, like you don't wake in the middle of the night, I encourage you to watch it anyway and apply the techniques and the tips, like be aware of your body. You might find that you can sleep even deeper than you are right now. Or some of the insights might apply to when you're trying to go to sleep or waking up, which we'll discuss next week. But we encourage you to go through the tapping and just clear stuff out. Make sure that everything is broom clean. Oh, I've got that handled. I've got that. Good. That alone gives you like a sense of ah, that's complete. I don't have to worry about that. Checking it off my list.
Great. So we're going to be doing some tappings together for if you're frustrated, if you're scared, and if you're just don't know what to do, great.
