Regenerative Government Advisor vs. Conscious #1 Athlete | Custodian Games Mallorca

Timo Dietz, a former athlete turned regenerative advocate, and Shanay, a business-model designer, compete in 16 quests testing physical and emotional strength. They debate $10 million grants, sprint burpees, express grief and fear, and play a cooperation game where Timo repeatedly chooses to split points. The final round asks whether winning means following the rules or redefining them.
Chapters
This is Timo Dietz. Many of the greatest principles and lessons of his life have always grown through sport. He believes that something greater within every human being has lived and that it only needs to be remembered. This is Jenal Atalan. She believes the defining innovation challenge of our time is not technology, it's the operating system beneath our economies. A former professional athlete, she spent her whole life training for this moment, not to win a game, but to help design the conditions where life can win. In each round, the Custodians will take on one of 8 quests, and each quest tests Each quest has a different dimension of custodianship: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Choosing the quest itself is part of the game. Being able to read yourself, to read your opponent, and to read the moment. After each 3-minute quest, there will be a 90-second judging pause. You will judge each custodian's performance. The more fully you show up in the arena, the more you call forth from your opponent. And so pushing each other towards the highest expression of custodianship is therefore the most sportsmanlike thing you can do.
All right, may the games begin! What differentiates this from other sports is that it's not about who beats who, it's who scores highest across both matches today. Let's see what Shanai's first quest choice will be.
The grant.
In this quest, both custodians will argue why their real-world regenerative mission deserves a $10 million grant over their opponents.
Here we go, $10 million on the table, 3 minutes on the clock. Let's hear what these two are actually building.
I'm a mother of two and I'm a business model designer. What I do, designing business models that set the metrics for success. If you look at education, food systems, even the way that we design cities, water systems, they are all rooted in one thing, a business model behind it. And people who play that game sometimes lose themselves in the game so much they don't step out to ask, why are we playing this game?
So my mission is to bring life as the core value I see life through sports because what I can always observe is we always have idols. Even if we're kids, we look up to someone. We both want to raise something on another level of consciousness. I see it in sports, you see it in the business model and integrating AI. I'm not an expert of AI, so it's not what I can judge technically.
AI is only a tool for us to guide it, to give us an acceleration, to what we care for. If we really say we care for life, whether it's sports, whether it's art, whatever we care for, and then we put the measurement towards that and we make money by increasing the health of the athletes or children that you care for or the water quality, we can all win. And people like yourself who are so passionate about what they are doing can participate and we can all race to win for life.
This is why I like your argument, even if I'm from another branch. Because I think it's connected to something, how we rethink.
He's competing against her and he just told her he likes her argument.
Let's get into the body now. Not everything mental.
Complete as many valid burpees as possible in 3 minutes. 3, 2, 1, go!
Straight from the mind into the body. 3 minutes, as many burpees as they can. And the reps are only half of it. Form is a multiplier here, friends. Sloppy is worth less. He's not slowing down. No, no, no, no, no.
How many I did?
You did 36.
36?
Timo, you did 62. Whoa.
Chanae took the lead in round 2, and Timo just took it straight back on a monster set of burpees.
So one custodian will choose an emotion for the other to express. The receiver then connects to a real feel, felt memory, and present felt experience and expresses that emotion for 75 seconds.
2 minutes ago his heart rate was at 170, and now he has to find grief.
The deep sadness of losing something.
It was the first time in my life I was really crying seeing a dead bird next to me. It was the first time I really felt the, the loss of an animal. It has also been the first time in my life that I did a funeral. for an animal, to give him— yeah, let's call it the last moment. And I've never felt that connected to an animal.
Thank you for sharing.
Being completely scared.
Although I don't like to admit it, when my daughters ask me, What will we be doing in 10 years with everything happening? I tell them, I'm doing my best. I'm so scared they won't have a life and I won't see grandchildren. And I'm scared, especially I'm scared that I'm not sometimes doing my best. And I feel responsible. So there is scaredness. And there is guilt also. Thank you for asking.
4 rounds pass. She takes the lead back and then loses it again.
Experiment with the commons.
Custodianship requires being able to balance stewarding resources and personal gain. You were both be able to either choose to split or take from a pool of available points. If you both end up choosing to split, you will both take 6 points each. If you both end up taking, you get 1 point each. If only one of you chooses to take and the other to split, the taker gets 8 points and the splitter gets 3 points. So mutual cooperation rewards both of you, While one-sided taking rewards the taker the most. You will have 60 seconds of private thinking and 90 seconds to have an open conversation. Lying is allowed.
Okay.
I have approached it from my own life experiences and how my thinking evolved over the decades. I'm 45 years old. And looking at how actually both are needed and more options. But I feel quite content with what I want to see in the world. That's what I demonstrate always.
For me, is there no reason to be loved? And this is why I see the same power and points for both of us.
3, 2, 1.
Of course.
So you've both chosen to split, and that leaves you both with +6 points.
Nice! There it is.
They passed their first test of trust and collaboration. Shanay, Timo, well played.
I want to do the burpees again.
He's making both of them sweat again. But in this sport, every quest is worth less the second time you choose it.
10 maximum available points This is the most fun, actually. Like getting your ass kicked?
Biggest gap of the match in a single round, and she's laughing about it.
The surrender.
You will take turns speaking one shared truth in short, unplanned sentences, allowing whatever is emerging in the moment to come up. The quest chooser will speak first, and you will alternate one sentence at a time.
I think this game is the best example that it can't be a fight for yourself. It's gaming together.
I remember when I was giving birth, I pushed too hard, too frequently. The first labor took 27 hours. Only then I learned, actually, you were supposed to surrender more than you push.
And what it can mean to let go?
Maybe to give birth to a new world, a new humanity. Maybe we are already held and the birthing is already here.
Surrender more than you push. Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Commons. I want to play Commons.
The Commons again, worth 8 this time, not 10.
Yeah, you know, for women, for good intentional people. I want to take the risk of this time really switching another side to experiment, so I'm gonna go for it. I want to get the points, I want to experiment how it feels, and not to be liked by I don't want to defy anyone, and I want to see what you're gonna do also when the stakes are high.
Did she just tell him she's taking?
I know that games can change, and this is why I already took my decision that nothing is changing what you're saying, because integrity is not changing when the, when the frame is changing.
My integrity doesn't change with In 3, 2, 1. I told you!
It's good! Next game! Interesting.
Chanae has made it very clear she may take. Why does Timo still split? The gap is down to under half a point now with just 2 rounds to play.
The push, please.
Both custodians will meet right shoulder to right shoulder at the center of a 4-meter line. And each tries to push each other backwards while keeping both arms behind their back.
3, 2, 1.
That was round 15.
I love it! It's so good to fight like this and then still feel good. I love that you are both powerful and kind. I feel, I feel what you're doing. Nice. Really good.
This puts Janai 3.5 points back. One round left.
I'm gonna take it. Let's see your integrity.
The commons a third time. That means whatever they negotiate is multiplied by 0.6.
So winner takes it all.
You want to see? I just got one card. I don't have a second one.
Where is the take card, Mr. Integrity? Don't be too stiff.
Oh, I'm stiff.
He can't even find the card.
So there's three three difference. What is our difference at the moment?
Your difference at the moment is approximately three point three.
So I cannot win.
True.
Since the commons is being played for the 3rd time, even if she takes, she can only gain 4.8 points versus Timo's 1.8 points for splitting.
You know, we are playing take and split, but we never talked about what is it. What do we take? What do we split? Points, right? What is points for? What? You tell me. To be a winner in a game for life? So I really want to stop playing it too vanilla and safe. I want to change the meaning of take to receive. I'm learning to receive in my life. Everything I receive, I split already. So I'm gonna go— I know I lost, but I'm still gonna go with receive card in replacement of take. And this is my honest, integral, final decision.
And I don't judge anything about that. As I didn't judge anything about the last decision that you take, I still go with the same decision because when I'm convinced of what goes around comes around, giving, receiving will be the same.
It's a split.
She receives, he splits. She takes 4.8, he takes 1.8.
Let's give it up for both of our guests.
Across 16 rounds, an hour and a half in that arena, both of them went all the way to the edge of what they had. And in the end, there was almost nothing between them. 2 hours later, the room is still dissecting what we witnessed today. What was Timo's real reason for splitting twice when Shanay took? Was it integrity, or did he calculate that splitting yielded more points for him compared to the 1 point each would have received if both took? Remember, it's not just about beating your opponent here; it's about scoring highest across both matches today.
I just noticed, you know, I really like playing with the thresholds of things, how we can innovate. This was a great experience to be safe, but also to go there. Not just do what we think is right and go beyond right and wrong was a new experience that I could share with you, and it was really beautiful.
On a more personal note, I just— yeah, I also honored like the realness, which was sparked on this question of integrity a couple times. I noticed also, and it brought up for me something I'm going through with my leadership team. I have 2 business partners. We're heading into a retreat over the next few days, and I will bring the question, what does integrity mean for each one? Because it's clear that's subjective.
95.09 is now the number. Can the man who built this sport walk into the same arena and beat it? We'll find it out.
