In this YouTube video, Salima Sukumaran, a generational Ayurveda practitioner, shares her personal breakthrough with an ancient Ayurvedic oil‑massage practice called Abhyanga. She explains how warm oil applied to the skin penetrates deep layers, calming the Vata dosha, stimulating the lymphatic system, nourishing the nervous system, and prompting the body to produce more serotonin and melatonin—resulting in rapid anxiety relief, improved sleep, hormonal balance, and anti‑aging effects. Salima outlines common mistakes (cold oil, rushed technique, wrong oil) and provides a step‑by‑step protocol: (1) select the appropriate oil based on dosha (Dhanavantharam for dry/anxious, Eladi for heat/inflammation, dry‑brush for oily/phlegm), (2) warm the oil in hot water for about five minutes, (3) massage with long strokes on limbs, circular motions on joints, and extra attention to scalp, ears, and feet, for 10‑15 minutes before a morning shower, at least three times a week. She promises noticeable benefits within two weeks—calmer nerves, better sleep, glowing skin—and invites viewers to book a personalized discovery session via a link in the description, encouraging them to follow the channel to “activate their in‑built Ayurvedic intelligence.”

I wasted years on expensive sleep supplements before discovering this ancient oil massage technique that fixed my nighttime anxiety in 10 minutes. What if I told you that spending just minutes massaging oil on your body could calm your anxiety, improve your sleep, balance your hormones, and even slow down aging? Doctors rarely talk about this, but Ayurveda has prescribed it for 5,000 years, and this practice is called as Abhyanga. Hi, I'm Salila Sukumaran, a generational Ayurveda practitioner based in sunny California, helping you activate your inbuilt AI, your Ayurvedic intelligence. And today we are unlocking the secret of Abhyanga. Abhyanga means oil massage, but it's not just about soft skin or relaxation. In Ayurveda, your skin is not a barrier, it is a Gateway. When you massage warm oil onto your skin, it penetrates deeply into 7 layers, reaching your nervous system, your lymphatic system, and even your bone marrow. And here is what happens inside your body. Warm oil calms Vata dosha, the energy responsible for anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia. It stimulates your lymphatic system, helping your body flush out toxic toxins and reduce inflammation. Nourishes your nervous system through direct absorption, which is why people feel calmer within minutes of an oil massage. And it signals your body to produce more serotonin and more melatonin, the hormones that regulate mood and sleep. But most people do Abhyanga absolutely wrong. They use cold oil, or they rush through it, or they use the wrong oil for their body type. Let me give you the correct method. First, choose the right oil. If you have dry skin, anxiety, or insomnia, use Dhanavantharam oil. If you have inflammation or excess body heat, use a cooling oil like Eladi oil. If you have oily skin or phlegm or congestion, do not oil. Instead, dry brush with a soft loofah to activate your skin's sleepy metabolism. Second, warm the oil. Place the oil bottle in a bowl of hot water for about 5 minutes. Warm oil penetrates deeper and calms vata more effectively than cold oil. And absolutely do not use frozen oil, it will have the opposite effect. Third, massage with intention. Use long strokes on your limbs and circular motion on your joints. Spend extra time on your scalp, your ears, your feet. These areas have the highest concentration of nerve endings and absorb oil more efficiently. Do this for 10 to 15 minutes before your morning shower, at least 3 times a week. The transformation, I promise you, is almost immediate. With time, it becomes profound. Within 2 weeks, you will notice your nerves getting calmer, better sleep, softer, glowing skin. If you want to know which oil and technique suits your unique dosha and current imbalances, and how to integrate Abhyanga into your personalized wellness routine, I invite you to book a discovery session with me.
