5 Steps to Master a Killer First Impression (Lupin’s Secrets Revealed)

In this self‑help video the presenter uses Assane Diop, the charismatic protagonist of the TV series Lupin, as a model for creating unforgettable first impressions in dating, cold approaches, and any new social encounter. He outlines a step‑by‑step framework: (1) deliberately pick a character or "vibe" that matches your natural tendencies and the situation; (2) dress the part, using clothing, accessories, and even accents to signal the chosen persona; (3) amplify the core traits of that persona (Level 1) and then add an unexpected, complementary trait (Level 2, the "Yin‑Yang" vibe) to create depth and intrigue; (4) mentally rehearse the specific scenario you expect to encounter, visualising the interaction in detail; and (5) adopt an attitude of assumed attraction, maintaining a carefree, confident aura throughout. Throughout the talk the speaker stresses that the process is playful, iterative, and rooted in self‑knowledge, encouraging viewers to experiment, have fun, and treat each encounter as a performance where they are the star.

How do you actually make a killer first impression like the main character in the TV series Lupin? In Lupin, the main character, Assane Diop, he plays 20, 30, 40 different characters, and every single character he chooses to play, he kills it. And the crazy thing is that no one doubts him, and he's got this way about him where no matter which character he chooses, he's got it. Nothing stops him. In this video, I'm going to tell you how you can make a killer first impression like Assane Diop in Lupin, whether it be approaching a random person cold or going on your first dates. You might be thinking, well, of course he can do whatever he wants because this is a TV series after all. Well, hold it for a second. Mastering the first impression, creating that unforgettable aura and vibe is something that I pour my heart and soul into over the past multiple decades. Yeah, I look like a teenager or someone in the early 20s, but I'm actually in my late 30s. I've also watched the entire 3 seasons of Lupin to really deeply understand how the main character, Assane Diop, charms and woos people in any situation regardless of what character he chooses to play. So stick to this video because I'm gonna share with you how to unlock the secrets of creating that killer first impression. So in Lupin, the main character Assane carefully chooses a character that really fits that scenario, the whole story. And he actually studies that character very, very carefully. Sometimes he spends weeks, he spends months, He actually maps out the entire strategy. So first, pick that character. It's easier to understand what your natural vibe is like and go from there. Are you more introverted, analytical, with a rich inner world? Or are you more extroverted, emotion-driven, with a bit of a playful attitude in life? Obviously, these different traits can definitely mix together, but I'm just giving you an example. Identify what your natural vibe is like and establish that as a base layer of your vibe. It's not about what your characteristic is like. It doesn't matter if you're tall, short, dark, white, athletic, thin— does not matter. I've got a friend who's pretty short, but he kills it with his swagger, fun-loving attitude, and he's so sure about his world that he's a chick magnet. Got another friend who's pretty tall, stocky. His posture is not even that great, but he kills it with his verbal bantering and his knowledge of the world. It's never black or white. You can choose your baseline of character, and it starts from really deeply understanding what your natural tendency is like. What kind of qualities a lot of other people around you, your family or friends, really compliment you on? This is what I do every morning. I choose to live my life as a super energizing, loving, and visionary leader. I remind myself every morning that that's who I am. That's a character that I choose to play. I choose to have a lot of energy. I choose to be loving, and I choose to be a visionary leader. So what kind of character do you choose? If you're not sure, don't worry about it too much. Don't try to get it 100% right the first time. There's no right or wrong answer in this, right? You just choose a character that you wanna play, and if you don't like it, Choose another one. Think of yourself literally as an actor playing all these different characters. Depending on my vibe, I sometimes like to play around with this more French vibe with the little bit of baguette every morning, a bit of cappuccino. Sometimes I like to play this flamboyant, confident vibe. You can play around with different accents. Literally, sometimes it's a little ridiculous, but you can play around with this character, baby. The more you do this, the more you'll have fun with this and the better you get at this. When you think about this whole process of actually crafting your personality, crafting your character, and and literally choosing how you want to show up in the world when you have that first interaction with that random person or when you go on your first date. It can be a little bit daunting, especially if this is something that you've never done before. But remember, you're doing this to showcase your amazing fun vibe, so naturally it only suits you to have a lot of fun with it. No matter which character Assan Diop chooses to play in Lupin, there's one characteristic that is common amongst all the characters. He's super carefree, he's super chill. Even in the moments of life and death, he never ceases to crack a cheeky smile. It's all about having this super carefree, super fun vibe. So no matter which character you choose to play, remember to have fun and remember to have this carefree vibe. Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak. When you think about Ah Sahm, literally every single character he chooses to play, he has a different outfit, whether it be a mailman or delivery person, police officer, military officer. He chooses a character, then he chooses an outfit, and he literally goes all out, literally changes his hairstyle. He has like a fake wig, different accessories, sometimes even a different accent. And this is exactly the mentality that you want to adopt. We're not talking about meeting people that you've already known for years. We're talking about meeting someone new for the first time, talking about approaching a random on the street somewhere, going on your first date, approaching someone at a bar. They don't know you, you don't know them. So What's the first thing they're going to see? They're going to see your outfit. They're going to see your style. They're going to see what you're wearing. Make this easy for yourself and pick an outfit and style that actually fits your overall vibe and overall character. So let's say you're a software engineer. That's your character. Think about what kind of outfit this person is going to wear. Like, the stereotype is that you're going to wear glasses. If you're going to wear glasses, you better pick glasses that really fit your vibe, really fit your face. Sexy glasses. At the same time, you're highly accomplished, you're driven, you care about your professional life a lot. What actually complements glasses? Well, you can have a really nice haircut. A lot of people grow their facial hair, but you choose a more like clean-shaven look. Well, you can play around with that as well. You're an engineer, so you're probably not going to wear a suit, but you could if you are an engineer that manages people, right? So it really depends on the scenario, really depends on what kind of character that you choose to play. Pick an outfit that aligns with your overall vibe of your character. But as you progress in your journey, feel free to mix and match. You don't have to be 100% congruent with your character because at the end of the day, your character is supposed to be fluid. For example, you can wear tank tops and glasses, like what I do usually in super hot places. So in this case, my character is— I'm just an entrepreneur. I'm in front of my computer a lot, so I wear glasses. My contacts usually make my eyes dry, and it's hot. So what am I going to do? I'm just going to wear tank tops. When your vibe is really strong, it actually doesn't really matter what you wear. But we're talking about first impressions. We're talking about going on your first dates, meeting someone new for the first time. And the thing is, the first time anyone interacts with you, they're going to make a snap judgment mostly based on what you wear. So make your life easier and pick an outfit that is congruent with the character that you've chosen to play. Speaking of vibe, I always say this is the most important thing. I always say vibe is everything and everything is vibe. Think about Assam Diop in Lupin. No matter what character he chooses, he's got this super carefree, confident, and bulletproof vibe. Even when he plays a character who typically don't strike as someone who will be very confident, when he decides to play that character, he is confident about that character. There are two ways to craft your vibe and amplify your vibe. Level 1, this is for beginners. Whatever vibe that your character generally has, enhance it, double down on it. Let me give you an example. Let's say you're an engineer who's highly accomplished and the character you've chosen to play is a highly accomplished engineer who's killing it in your field. What most people expect of you is that you're gonna be very analytical. Instead of shying away from being labeled as someone who's super analytical, own it. Because, well, guess what? That's the core vibe of your character, and there's nothing shameful about it. Double down on the super analytical vibe that you have. Really own the stereotype. Really own what people expect of you. Anytime someone owns that character full on and really go the extreme, it usually has the effect of that person really owning it and really just being certain about their world. And guess what kind of effect that person would have? Sexy, attractive, magnetic, and charismatic. You are sure and certain of your analytical vibe. You're not shying away from it. You're proud of it. You know your strengths. This is what differentiates you from other people, and that's what makes you unique. This makes you way more attractive than not owning it at all. Let's say you met someone for the first time and you're talking about what you do for a living. They ask you, hey, what do you do for a living? Oh, I'm a software engineer. I love it. AI, crypto, whatever it is, I got your back. This vibe is way more attractive than you saying something along the lines of, oh, I do software engineering, it's whatever. You see how the attitude and vibe is completely different? You can say the same thing,. But just by owning it, just by being sure of it, just by being prideful, the energy is completely different. In order for you to really double down on your core vibe and really own it, put some emotion to it. When they ask you what you do for a living, be excited about it. Why not? Because this is who you are. This is your core vibe. Level 2, this is more advanced. This is what I call the Yin and Yang vibe. So let's go back to the same example. You're an engineer. What most people expect of you is that you're super analytical, and therefore they a lot of the time mistakenly think that you might not be as vibey. You might be very computer-like, so it might be very hard to connect with you on a deeper level. It might be hard to have a fun conversation. Well, what if you did? Now, that would be an interesting story. With your core vibe being very analytical and you owning it, at the same time, if you happen to be someone who can have a very fun conversation, really enjoys connecting with others on an emotional, non-analytical level, that would add a completely new dimension to you. It's got to make people think, what else can I discover about this guy? Now, on the opposite side of the spectrum, let's say the character that you've chosen to play is someone who more vibey. You're not as analytical. You're more creative. You like to talk about more abstract things. What people don't expect of you is that you'll be very analytical. Well, you can proactively choose to show your intellectual analytical side. For example, showing your master level of understanding of world affairs, geopolitics, history. People usually get way more curious the more they discover something unexpected about that person. It's like a cognitive dissonance. You make a snap judgment about what this person is like based on your current level of understanding about human dynamics and humanity. You think that you've figured this person out, and all of a sudden this person just shows you a completely new side of them that you never expected. And that can be very attractive. Your preparation when it comes to making that killer impression doesn't just stop at choosing your character, learning what outfit you're going to wear, and carefully crafting that vibe. There's also the last step. It's about proactively choosing what kind of scenario you're gonna have when you meet that person, what kind of vibe you're gonna have. I'm not talking about your own vibe, what kind of vibe you're gonna have when you meet that person between you and that person in front of you. You probably heard that a lot of top athletes in the world, before they actually get into that mode of playing that game, top-level athletes spend weeks, months, and oftentimes years preparing for that one moment and they keep on visualizing over and over again. You can adopt exactly the same mindset when it comes to creating that killer first impression. Take a moment and write down on a piece of paper what scenario would be the most exciting for you. Is it meeting someone new at an event, connecting over your love of spirituality and how you grew up? Or is it meeting someone new at a cafe and just vibing because you just happen to be in the right place at the right time? When Ahsan in Lupin plays different characters, in every situation that he gets into, he knows what to do. He is that character, he assumes that people know him for that character. And sometimes he even gets angry for them not knowing him. He's so certain of his reality that nothing fazes him. And this is the same vibe that you wanna have when it comes to meeting that person for the first time. When it comes to creating this attraction, when it comes to creating this killer first impression, you assume that they're attracted to you and you assume that they're into you. A key thing to remember, you must get used to this idea that this is not something that if only you achieved it, everything will be great in your life and finally you'll be a cool person. It's nothing like that. The analogy that I like to use a lot is buying a cup of coffee. You go to a coffee shop, you just order a cup of coffee. Is there something special about it? No, you just have your coffee every single day. It's just a matter of which coffee are you going to choose? Is it going to be a cappuccino, flat white, latte? Be specific about it. You want to remember that this is something that's going to happen eventually and inevitably. You paint the specific painting of what kind of vision you want to create, and you give power to it over and over again on a daily basis, multiple times a day. And all of a sudden, you realize that this has become your reality. So these are the fundamentals you must prepare before meeting that person to make that killer first impression. Choose your character. Remember to have fun. Choose that outfit. Craft your vibe. And assume and imagine.
