Find Your Joy!

Sean Buttner argues that 15 minutes of daily joy—playing guitar, walking, or creative work—prevents burnout and rebuilds confidence. He lost time for music in corporate America and now coaches people to find their "joy spark" before stress and anxiety take over.

Hey, everyone. Welcome to Start yout Day With a Coach. I'm your host, Sean Butner. And today we're going to be talking about finding your joy because it's an essential skill. So before you do that, make sure you subscribe like, or do the social thing with this video. Share it with three friends. You think that might need a little bit more joy in their life, because that would help me out. And it spreads the good message. Now, so many people forget that every day it's up to them to find their source of centeredness and inspiration so that they don't burn out. So in a lot of the conversations I've been having recently in my coaching practice, it's been people that have lost their jobs and are so focused on finding that. That next gig that they forget to take time for themselves to really feel. Feel like they're themselves, right? To really connect with things that bring them joy, that help them, you know, keep on task. It's such an important thing. And, you know, when we forget to do something every day to make it a habit to find the joy, we lose our confidence, right? We can't be fully expressive of ourselves if we feel bad consistently, right. If we don't have those moments to spark that fire in us, that hunger, that passion that then can show up in the rest of our lives. And this isn't something that needs to be. You need to spend five hours every day doing, writing your next book, writing music, doing art or whatever it is that you find Joy in. But 15 minutes in the morning before you start your day, just doing something that really helps you shine, right? That. That's really the whole thing. So, you know, I work a lot with people on trying to find these little moments and making them habits during the day. So, you know, for me as a coach, when I was in corporate America, one of the first things that kind of dropped was my time that I spent on my guitar writing music, performing music, you know, something that just filled me up. I really just love that part of what I can do, right. It's good to be creative. It's good to get out of the computer. It's good to have something where I'm just doing it for my own sense of fulfillment. Not because there's a deadline, not because the kids need something, because the spouse needs something, or friends have obligations. You know, all these things that we have to do or we want to do, but they're not necessarily the things that help us feel connected to ourselves. So the question I have for you is, what is the Thing that sparks joy that you can do every day. If you don't have that in the front of your mind, you're like, oh, I can play guitar, oh, I can go for a walk or spend time out with friends. I know that that's a little tricky in today's world, but whatever that is, is it built into your day? And if not, how could you get it built in your day or build more of it into your day? Because sometimes we just in order to feel like we're living our life, we need to be doing the things that we feel alive in. So I hope this video is been helpful for you at least getting you thinking about what is the thing that you can do every day to feel that sense of joy so they can feel more confident, so you can walk word away burnout, you know, because another side of this too is, you know, I've had people that have been in industry and the tech industry, in particular software engineers, hardware engineers, where they just feel burnt out, you know, and that is part of, you know, taking on more and maybe not having boundaries. It's like the first level, but it's really like losing connection on why you're doing it and why it brings you a sense of fulfillment, a sense of joy, sense of contentment. So I throw that out there for you guys always. You can go to SeanButter.com coaching to sign up for a free strategy session if you need a little bit of help.
