Get Things Done - Use the Three Bs

Sean Buttner breaks down a three-part productivity system: 50-minute focused work blocks, the Be Focused timer app, and 10-minute breaks for water and stretching. The method keeps energy up and prevents the quality loss that comes from multitasking.

Foreign. Everyone, this is Sean Butner with start your day with a high performance coach. Welcome to today's video on how to get more things done or how to use the three Bs. So before we get to that, just wanted to say first, thanks for being here. If you're here, say hey below, like, follow, do that thing. If you're so inclined, share this video with someone who might need to be a little bit more productive, but just want to get right to it. So today we're talking, hey, Dave, what's going on, man? Today we're talking about the three Bs because sometimes, like, you have the whole day in front of you. You don't have a lot of meetings, you don't have a lot of calls, you don't have a lot of, you know, outside things you need to do so you can get a lot of progress done on your projects, on your mission, on your purpose, on whatever you're doing to go crush it and improve your life, improve the quality of your life. So that's where I found myself this morning, going through my day. So I thought, as much as this is a message for me, I thought it'd be a cool little motivational thing in the morning for you. Start your day with the coach. So what are the three Bs? Well, really like three Bs are block time, the app be focused and breaks. So it's one technique, one technology, one just really good habit to have. And so how do all three of these things work together? Well, block time is breaking up your day into the blocks of 50 minutes where you just focus on the most important thing, right? And hopefully you get through a couple of important things. But, you know, this is pretty flexible. So, you know, you divvy up your day into those 50 minute things. And then for 10 minutes at the end of the hour, you do your bio break, you get water, you stretch, you do the break part of it for 10 minutes. So it could be a quick meditation, it could be, you know, whatever you need to do, like rest your eyes if you're looking at a screen all the day like I am. So these things help sustain your energy over the long term. And it's pretty amazing where a lot of people think that, hey, I can, you know, multitask, so I can be doing a lot of different things. But it turns out you don't probably do those at the quality or level of excellence you need. So this helps you, one, prioritize, two, work on the most important things that'll get you moving forward. Three, Works in breaks to your day and then four. This Be Focused app, what it does is it's a timer that goes on your computer that you can set two different timers so you have like your work 50 minute thing and then you, you can switch it. It'll do a 10 minute break timer for you and you can count the, the number of blocks. So if you're going to do a full workday, that's eight blocks for you guys playing at home and not including lunch and stuff that you might need to do in between those blocks. But that is one of my favorite things to do when I want to be really productive. And every time that I have my blocks and I'm very disciplined with it, it ends up being a pretty awesome day where I don't feel completely wiped at the end of the day. So hopefully you find that useful. If you guys have any productivity tips that you love, please put those below. Any techniques or any types of your favorite breaks that are less than five minutes, you know, I think that would be great for the community also. I, I'm interested. You know, I'm, I nerd out about this stuff, so. Hey, Kate, what's going on man? Lady, lady, man, I don't know. This is live. This is in the morning guys here on the west coast. So all bets are off. But so again the three B's are block time. The app be focused and brace. And you can accomplish all those by planning your hour into a 50 minute chunk for work on one task. 10 minute break again, bio, stretching, resting, rejuvenating, getting pumped up for the next block or the next task and your breaks. So hope you found this short and fun and helpful and see you guys tomorrow morning for start your week with the coach. Okay guys, take care. Have a great day. Go crush it and see you tomorrow.
