Everyone, welcome to start your day. Great. Start your day with a coach. I am your coach, certified high performance guy, Sean Butner. And today we're going to be talking about how to double down on your authentic self. Because if you've ever had the thought when you're with a group of friends or co workers, and usually the bigger the group, the worse that if they only knew the real me, right? If they knew how funny I really was, if they knew the great idea that I had, if they could pick up on the observation that I've seen on the topic we're talking about, maybe you didn't feel confident in that moment, or maybe you felt disheartened or lonely or frustrated that you couldn't really connect in the way that you want to. And I bring this up because this is something I struggled with a lot growing up and still have times in my life now where, you know, as an introvert, part of being able to feel connected to everything is, you know, having the right energy at the right time. It's really, you know, having the right people in place that already kind of know your sense of humor or that. That dry delivery that you have. And, you know, sometimes for me, when I would move to a new town, you know, and I couldn't hang out with a core group of folks that I had made along the way in high school and college and all the various states that I've lived in, you know, something needed to change. And what I learned is that being more thoughtful in a conversation could be a super power, but I just needed to double commit on being my authentic self. You know, if people didn't get it, then, you know, you could filter them out. You didn't have to hang with everyone and you didn't have to focus on the people that didn't get you, right? And so I guess, you know, part of growing up, you learn this, but, you know, it really changed my life and how confident I felt speaking up at work or facilitating meetings or building relationships both personally and professionally, or, you know, just feeling like a value member of a team. And it all was so much easier when I'm like, okay, like, people will sort out this, right? One of my mentors, Bo Eason, talks about people having to deal with your humanity. Right. Excuse me. And, you know, I think a lot of the things that happened this past year with COVID was very good for introverts like me, but very not great for extroverts. And so we're in this weird time now where we're trying to force People into zones where maybe they're not their most comfortable or the most productive. And, you know, I think it's a conversation we should continue to have. But whether you're introverted or extroverted, where you get your energy from being around people or not figuring that out for yourself and saying that's me, and standing tall and proud and saying, hey, I need to work from home or hey, I need to go into the office or hey, a bit of both. There's no wrong answer, but there is one right answer for you. And so to be able to express that, to be able to feel comfort in that, to find and draw confidence in that is what today's video is all about. So no matter how you get your energy with interacting with others, you know, find the way that works best for you. Double down on your authentic self for more joy, more confidence and more impact in your communities, in your teams, in your personal life.
