#SYDWAC - Friday Reflection

Sean Buttner, a high-performance coach, shares how his mother's death in 2014 while working at Apple pushed him to pivot toward coaching. He argues that mindset, habits, and discipline matter more than technical skills, and that believing in yourself is the foundation for tackling any challenge.

Sa. Foreign. Hey, good morning everyone. Welcome to start your day. Great. Start your day with a coach. I am your host, certified high performance coach Sean Butner. And today we're doing the weekly reflection and before we get into that, I want to remind you first to do the social media thing, please and likes social media. Subscribe Comment if you have a comment or question below, wherever you're watching this video helps me out, helps me understand what you guys are thinking about and how to better tailor the content to you guys. So today, you know, as we're going to do the weekly habit of asking ourselves three questions about the week to kind of start to wrap things up on Friday here. And before we do that, I want to emphasize and really the message today is to remember to believe in yourself. And I know that seems kind of, you know, corny or personal developee, but it's such an important thing that we trust our intuitions, that we trust that call to serve, that sometimes in our heart that we trust our ability to do things out in the world and get things done. It's super, super important. So, you know, and it's kind of the basis for a lot of personal development. But you know, as a coach, that's pretty much my focus. I help people with mindsets, I help people find habits, I help people improve their relationships and I help people keep consistent and disciplined in their lives. Right? That's my job as a coach. And so if you were to throw me in any situation with someone who is a doctor, someone who's a lawyer, someone who's a software engineer and someone who is, you know, running their own business in a highly specialized field, I'm not going to be able to help you with the technical stuff, but I can help you with those mindsets, the habits, the relationships and the discipline that will help you perform more. Right? So that's, you know, like I said, what I do and it all starts with this belief in yourself and you know, self confidence or assertiveness or there's a whole bunch of different words for this type of thing. But you know, at the end of the day, you know, cultivating that mindset that you can learn anything, you could pretty much do anything that you put your effort, your full heart, your full energy into, your full focus into has served me well, has served a lot of my clients well. And it's something that we all often struggle with, right? There could be something in your life that throws you completely off. You know, like it's coming up on my mom's birthday on the 10th year and, you know, she passed away in 2014. And, you know, having that experience kind of threw me off my game for a while. You know, you start, you know, when you have a passing of a family member, it. You really start to reassess priorities. What you really want to do, what are you doing? Is it even worth it? You know, that kind of stuff, like, and not in. It could sound kind of bad. It's more of a reflective, like, what am I doing with my life type things and what should I be doing or what do I want to be doing with my life? It was a really big. Inflection point in my career, if I'm honest. At that point, I was at Apple. I was thinking about coaching and the joy that happens when I'm able to have a really deep conversation with someone that helps them improve their life in some meaningful way to them is the best feeling in the world. It's why I, you know, I'm gonna die on this hill. I'm gonna figure out this coaching world, this coaching business, on top of the success that I have. But, you know, just to grow that impact of helping people is something that's really important to me, something I really believe in. I believe in this work. I believe in, you know, having that ripple effect of helping someone tweak their career and then they start their own business and they do a lot of really good in the world because of all the work that they did. Right. I was just kind of a guide that says, hey, maybe, you know, don't try to go down all the paths. Just pick one and see where it goes. And that's helped a bunch of my clients. So that's something I really love, so love to help, so. But again, it all comes down to, you know, that feeling of self confidence. How can I really believe in what I'm doing? How can I really get moving forward? And high performance can really help you with that. That's helping you with really figuring out your next step, you know, being really clear. It's helping you build and create the energy you need to reach that next level. It's helping you take bold action towards those dreams. You know, like, sometimes courage is saying that people think I'm crazy. People think that this isn't gonna work. But I believe that I can see this through. I believe I can put my full effort into it and see what happens. And I know I'll succeed. I won't, but I'll learn. You know, having that learning mindset is such an important part of performance. I think it's A really important part of just living a happy life. So you know, adopt that. When in doubt, think about what you can learn, right? I really believe that has served me in learning a bunch of different technologies on the spot, you know, while I'm working, you know, while I was at Walmart and Apple. So any case, you know, that core belief in believing in yourself and betting on yourself and trusting that again, that call to serve, that call to do put out good work, but that call to really explore the things that are interesting to you and seeing where it leads you is that spice of life is that sense of joy that you could bring to your life and propels people forward. So if you're struggling with that, I'm gonna let you know. Below this video there's a link to go to my free training video, the six Secrets of High Performing Introverts. On that page you'll see a free video that has those six habits that help everyone really succeed. But more importantly, at the bottom of that page there's an opportunity to apply for a free one hour strategy session with me. So if you are struggling with, you know, some self talk or some self doubt or some, you know, lack of belief or lack of clarity on what you really want to do so that you can step boldly towards that, I highly suggest taking me up on that strategy. So session below, you fill it out, schedule your one hour time and then you know, we get into your life. I help you develop a plan that you can implement right away and then if we both think that it's going to be fruitful, we talk about maybe coaching and continuing that relationship.
