#SYDWAC - Have Confidence In Your Mission

In this solo coaching video, certified high‑performance coach Shawn (Sean) Buttner encourages viewers—especially professionals and entrepreneurs working from home—to find confidence and meaning in their everyday work, even when it isn’t a grand "moonshot" venture. He argues that every role, from software developers to garbage collectors, contributes to a larger communal ecosystem, and recognizing this interconnected impact fuels motivation and prevents the despair that comes from feeling insignificant. Buttner stresses the importance of seeing one’s daily actions as part of a bigger societal mission, offers a reflective prompt to identify personal contributions, and then transitions to promote his upcoming live "Work From Home" productivity challenge, which aims to help remote workers multiply their effectiveness. The video ends with a supportive call‑to‑action, thanking viewers for their unseen contributions and urging them to keep showing up for family, community, and work.

Foreign. Hey everyone. Welcome to start your day. Great. Start your day with a coach. I am your certified high performance coach, Sean Butner. And this is the show where we help you unlock things that are, you know, preventing you from living your best full life so you can live the life that you deserve. And so basically through personal development. Now today I want to talk about why it's important to have confidence in your mission. You know, people often discount the things that they do, their ambition, if it's not super large, super enormous, super like, you know, moonshotty, I guess that's not a word, but that's what I'm trying to get at. You know, if you're not trying to launch a space mission or, or invent the next mega industry that's going to take over the world, it might not be meaningful, it might not be worth chasing, it might not be important, you know, and that's not a great belief to have. You know, we can get lost in these big ambitions, big goals and forget that we have an impact with everyone around us. You know, we role model for our kids through our action, with our actions and that impacts them, how they grow up and everyone that they're going to meet ever in their life. You know, we write code for products that medical professionals use, or we write code for systems that make sure that the stores are stocked with food, you know, logistically, so that we have proper medical treatment, we have food to eat every day. And these are things that, you know, aren't like the giant moonshot type thing, but they have impact for our communities and our society at large. And so it's important to remember that the things that you do every day are contributing to this giant communal space with outcomes in a more greater and more significant way than we sometimes realize, you know, and so it's also important to be looking for how other people and often overlooked jobs and aspects of the community and have super important jobs that keep things running, right? It's the trash man. It's the garbage man, garbage person, which is a terrible thing to call someone, but you know, the person that takes care of taking our trash or recycling, it's our medical professionals. It's the people that help us, you know, build roads so we can get to where we need to go. It and it's all these things that you don't think about, go into just taking a drive to the store, right? The amount of man hours that went into pouring cement, creating cement, you know, building the buildings and getting all the goods to that store. So it's really Convenient for you to like, pick up. It's kind of mind boggling when you think for a second, like, how amazing that is that you can go and get goods, you can, can get fruit from Mexico, you can get goods from Europe and Asia, like all in your local store. Like, that's nuts, right? And, and you could be the person that stocks the shelves at that store, or you could be the one that's helping people, like, live every day, you know, it's such a grand thing. So recognizing that in other people is really important and recognizing that for yourself, you know, so what are the essential things that you do every day that are, you know, contributing to community, to society at large? You know, and if we were to think about how our works that we do out in the world impact our communities and society, how would that change how you felt about your work? How would you change, how would it change about how you felt motivated every day to go and teach those kids to go and drive that bus, to go and, you know, open that restaurant that you have and serve coffee to everyone that's working? You know, we can find meaning in everything. And this is something that I'm constantly saying in my coaching practice and it's something that I'm also practicing as I run my business from my home. And it's so important and essential that we feel confident in the things that we do every day, because what we do every day is adding up. And if we don't think our works matter to anything or anyone, that's when the misery sets in. That's when the darkness comes in. That's when, you know, life can become miserable. But I think one of the great things about having free will, having this ability to be out in the world and doing things that are meaningful and maybe not necessarily financially, like paid for. That's a whole other conversation I don't want to have right now that could be a whole can of worms. But it's important that we see how we're together, right? Even in a society that values individualism and, you know, capitalism and all that stuff. Like, it's all great, but it's all in the context of we are interconnected. So just remember that, you know, it's important to connect to that bigger vision for yourself and how you're adding to the world at large. I believe in your good works and I just want to thank you for everything that you do that maybe goes notice, maybe doesn't go noticed for your family, for your work, your communities, your organizations, how you show up in your community organizations. And all that stuff, you know, good job, keep going. I'm here to just cheer you on. And if you are a professional or entrepreneur that's working from home, I want to let you know that next Monday, I'm starting my next round of the Work from Home challenge on how to 10 times your productivity at home. And so much of that is how do we connect with the work that we're doing every day? Especially if you don't have a team that can inspire you or remind you. Sometimes it can be lonely when you're just heads down, staring into the computer, doing the zoom call thing. And this is designed for you can work from anywhere. If you have to go to the office, the productivity habits and concepts will still help you. But, you know, since most people are a lot more people are working from home, I thought I'd have this challenge for you to help you just kind of become a weapon wherever you work. So if that's you, you can check the link below this video or the link in my bio. I'd love to see you next Monday. There will not be any replays. So you want to sign up to get the notifications, the email that will say, hey, we're going live at 10 and where to go and all the logistics and stuff like that. But I hope you take me on that, guys. I hope you remember how important it is for you to show up every day for the people that you lead, the people in your family, your friends and your community. This is Sean Butner saying, live with more joy, personal growth and impact. And I'll see you guys tomorrow, same time, same place.
