#SYDWAC - Monday Motivation

Sean Buettner walks through a three-question framework to structure your week: what you're looking forward to, your number-one focus across relationships, career, health, and happiness, and what might derail you. He argues that planning obstacles in advance, like sleep loss from late drinks, actually boosts performance.

Sam. Sa. Sat. Sa. Hey, everyone. Welcome to start your day. Great. Start your day with a coach. I am your certified high performance coach, Sean Buettner. And we are on Today for Motivation Monday. So thank you for being here. I'm really, really excited to be doing these videos for you. Every Monday, we always ask the same three questions. So we'll get into that real quick. But before we get into that, I just want to say that, like, it's the end of April, right? May is on Sunday, which is kind of nuts to me. And so let's do a quick check in, right? How have you been doing this week towards your year plan? Are you out there making the moves that you really want to be out there in the world, or are you holding back? Are you engaging in the world again after, like, two years of pandemic living and all that stuff? And why is it important to check out now? Because, you know, I think so many of us put our lives off for so long that it's time to potentially get back in the world, Right? You know, it's springtime, too, you know, so, like, if you've been dragging, this is your call to action to say, get in the game. You know, whatever you're doing, whether that's, you know, make it a big push on projects at your work, whether you're doubling down on some education as you retrain yourself moving forward, or just try to get your head right so that you feel a little bit lighter, a little bit happier, a little bit more confident every day. So that's basically the message this Monday. It's what I've been thinking about as I'm readjusting and reshifting goals for this year that I have met or things that shifted priority are not important anymore. It's a good time to kind of rethink that and get ready to push during the summer. So. So it's always like, I love May because of that, right? You know, as the, you know, weather gets nicer, as people start going outside a bit more, the mood tends to elevate and, you know, it's time to get to work. So. All right, so trying something new. So if you're with me on YouTube or Facebook, Instagram, sorry, guys, you're not going to see this. But I do have some new graphics for today as we ask our questions. So the first thing that we always ask every Monday to help feel motivated each week is, what are you looking forward to the most this week? Right? What other people or friends you're going to go see are there is There like a concert you're going to go to. Is it something that you know that's fun, that you're really, really looking forward to? And this is to help you generate a little bit of excitement this week. So you're not going in, just going into the motions that you know you're working towards something that is important and meaningful to you. Okay. So whatever that is, post it below if you want and we'll cheer you on. If not, no worries. But it's good to be thinking about that. And that's why we ask this question every Monday. Second thing is, what's your number one focus this week? Right. What is the thing that has to get done for your work or career? What's the number one thing has to be done in your relationships? What's the number one thing that you have to do for your health or for your happiness? Right. And I asked those four different areas for a very particular reason is. And that's because most people will choose one and forget about the rest. So we want you to be holistic. It's my job as a coach to push you in all areas of your life to be firing on all cylinders. So you know what, so that's four things for seven days of, of getting it done. So what are you doing for your relationships, your career, your health and your happiness again? Cool. So, and then final question. You know, what might trip you up this week and what's your plan to get around it? And I love this plan or this question, right, because it's getting us to do a little bit of planning for worst case scenarios. Right? So if you know that you're going to have trouble sleeping because you have a really late night planned on Thursday, what are you going to do to keep your energy up or to mitigate that on Friday? Right. It's the, if this happens, then I do that. Right. And it's such a powerful thing in your performance to be thinking of this question that it helps me, you know, so sleep is something that is really kind of hit or miss for me. So I know that I have to be hitting my workouts every day. I know that to burn off some energy, I know that I have to be eating right a little bit better, less like crackers and snacks and stuff. I know for a fact that the nights where I have more than one adult beverage that it's going to trip me up when I try to sleep. So thinking about that ahead of time and then managing it. So what am I going to do instead? I'm going to do My walks, I'm gonna make sure I'm drinking enough water. I'm going to, you know, make sure I'm having vegetable snacks, that kind of stuff. So that's when I was doing these three questions this morning. Every Monday I wake up, get my cup of coffee and journal on these just to get my headset for the week. And it changes everything. It's such a simple thing. It took me seven minutes, I think it was five minutes. I'll give myself seven minutes to go through these three questions really quick and to really connect with them and get ready to go and crush it during the week. So again, three questions are what are you looking forward to most this week? What is your number one focus this week? And then what might trip you up and what's your plan to get around it? Right? These are three questions we ask every day on Motivation Monday so that you have a great week. So with that said, guys, please do the social media thing.
