#SYDWAC - What’s Your Pace?

Sean Butner explores how your pace—the speed at which you move toward goals—affects motivation and joy. Feeling on track fuels excitement; falling behind drains you. He uses marathon training to show why big outcomes need consistent small steps, then challenges you to double your speed: more interviews for a job search, faster task completion, quicker progress across health, relationships, and work.

Host Sean Butner certified High Performance coach and today we're talking about, what is your pace? Are you getting up out of bed every day with a sense of joy, with a sense of excitement for the day, or are you dragging? And why are you dragging? I think when we feel like we're on track towards our big goals and big ambitions, we are way more inclined to be motivated to continue that momentum, to meet. Meet the day with a sense of joy, confidence and presence. But when we're off track, that's when we feel like we might not be able to control our own destiny. So it might not be worth trying. Or maybe we're going through the motions of our life and we're just waiting for something to happen to us so things can change and. Hey. Hey, Christopher. Good morning, man. Good to see you. And Dave, good to see you too, man. Um, so that's why the discussion of pacing is so important. How are you in your life? Do you feel like your career goals are on track and progressing in a strong way? Or do you feel like maybe there could be something more there? Or how about your relationships? How about your health? Are you on track for your health or just a general sense of. Well, do you feel like you're becoming a happier person if a more vibrant, more energetic person every day or not? And, you know, so if you are happy, like, I'm cheering you on, you guys are doing great. Awesome. You know, there's a lot of people that are high performers here, and if you know and can feel that maybe there's something more to it, I think what might help you here, and I think this is true in life, is just a sense of more consistent action. Right. I'll say, like, in anything, if we're talking about progress, I'll relate it to when I was trained for marathons years ago. You don't finish a marathon, which was my goal. I didn't want to win. I just wanted to finish it and not, you know, completely break myself. But you finish your marathon by taking thousands of steps in an allotted time, Right. And what is that really? That's just another crazy way to say you have to be consistently moving forward inch by inch, sometimes with the sweat, with the struggle, with the tears. But that consistent action is what I think helps with pace. Right. Because if, you know, you have to, you know, finish a big project, right? And there's 10 tasks, and your pace is one task a month, that's going to take you 10 months. Right. And that, you know, depending on deadlines and stuff, might not be Good. But if you can have a pace of one action completed in an hour, it's going to be way more quicker. So the trick is, is like, how can you do things quicker? How can you get into a better rhythm if you're not already being consistent? And how do you then kind of compress the timeline? So, like, questions in a coaching context could be like, what would it look like? Or what would have to happen if you could do this twice as quick? Right. And I don't think a lot of people ask themselves that question of how could I maybe get to that next level of productivity by doing something a little bit different? Because sometimes we just get stuck in our own way. You know, you've been doing something, you've been doing something really well for quite a long time. Sometimes you lose that edge to push and to get better. So that's going to be the topic of this week, is going to be pacing. So if you have any questions on that, please post it below. And then really consider, like, in the areas of your life where you maybe you don't feel like you're getting enough progress, how can you more consistently show up to try to make things happen? You know? I know. I also get a lot of folks talking about the job hunt. How are you getting more interviews? How are you putting out more resumes? Because that's the first thing, the first thing that needs to happen on that journey to get that new awesome next gig. So hope that serves you guys. Going to jump off here real quick. We'll be here tomorrow at 10 again, let's start your day with your coach and go out there live with more joy, more personal growth and more impact in your communities today. See you.
