Sa. All right, everyone, welcome to start your day. Great. Start your day with a coach. I am your certified high performance coach, Sean Butner. And this is the show where we set daily intentions, daily habits, have daily mindsets that will help us excel in the day that's coming. So today we're going to be talking about where are you at? It's the very basics of personal development. It's measuring where you're at right now so that you can dream about where you want to go and identify some things that you can change along the way. So before I go any further, do the social media thing and comment below. Wherever you're watching this, where you're from, if you have any questions, you could always throw them down there. I'll get to them at the end of the show if I can manage it. It's just the. With all this newfangled technology, trying out some stuff new on the Facebook and YouTube feeds. So head over there if that's your jam. If not, stick on Instagram. You know, I didn't mean that to rhyme, but anyways, so where are you at? So if you've ever woken up and wondered, like, how in the heck did I get to this point in my life? Maybe you wish for something different in your career, but you feel unsure on how to change or you're assessing where you are in your relationships and your health or general well being. And, you know, it's an area that so many people skip or don't have that reflection time built in a systematic way in their life. So we'll start with that with a couple of questions for you. You know, because knowing where we're doing well, where what needs to improve can help us, you know, put a line in the sand for change. Right. You know, we can get excited for change when we know and can incorporate the things that we're doing really well and could see the things that we can actually do something about to shift. Right. So for me, in 2010, I was working at Walmart Corporation in Arkansas and was miserable. And so what, I hadn't done this reflection, but I didn't really feel connected with my work. I didn't feel like I was working on something that was, you know, making a contribution to anything that was meaningful, to be quite frank. And I didn't kind of see how to get out of that. And it took me two years to realize that I should switch jobs, go into entrepreneurship and, you know, high performance and getting grounded on how did I see, like leaving a legacy. Right. The big question that helped me leave that job was if in 10 years or 20 years I was talking to my kids and they're like, why did you never leave that job? I would have felt embarrassed. You know, I would have felt like, you know, I had an idea for something that might have been really awesome, and. And I didn't do it. And how would that. What would that teach them? And I didn't like that. So that was, you know, measuring that, that, like, legacy, that contribution and what I wanted in my life and what I thought I could do. Right. I had an idea for business. Ultimately was the catalyst for switching jobs. And so, you know, I jumped over to California, started running my business there. That didn't go so well, but it got. Landed me the job at Apple, which was amazing and worked out way better than I could have ever thought a lot. Because my buddy Dave, who's on so, you know, big ups Dave, again, every time I see you, I'll just say that because the world needs to know, man. So, all right. So that's why it's really important to get an assessment of where we're at, you know, so for me, it was. I wasn't feeling that fulfillment, contribution or connection or frankly, the abundance of my career at that point. Had an idea, had. Was able to dream and then take steps towards making that dream true. It didn't work out the way I thought it would, but it worked out really awesome. So let's talk about you, right? So if you're in thinking about your career, what are the good measures for you? Is it abundance? Is it fulfillment? Is a contribution? I would say try those three and rate yourself on a scale of one to 10. One being I hate my life here, or 10 being like, this is the most amazing part of my life and you don't have to, like, you could have be amazing or not throughout all these scores. So it's not like that, but really, like, think about, like, on a scale, are you a five? Are you seven? And why did you choose that number for abundance, for fulfillment, and for contribution? Because that explanation can help be the cue that will get you moving forward. Okay, if we talk about your really good measure for relationships, is it time with family and friends? Is it vacations? Is it, you know, how you know the number of close friends that you have and how are you doing on each of those categories on a scale of 1 to 10? And again, you'll notice I'm saying what is a good measure, right? We know from the book Measure what Matters, and I'm blanking on the author's name. The book is fantastic and coming from a management education. Having gone into tech, how we measure things is super important. If we're measuring the wrong things, we'll get the wrong outcomes. Common sense. I know, but it's worth calling out because people, if you get this, the measurement wrong, it's gonna lead to misery. So I don't want that for you. So these are suggestions. Find whatever works for you. Okay, so we're measured your career, we're measuring your health. I'm talking a little bit to give you some time to jot some stuff down and think about it. And then, you know, how about your health? How is your daily energy? How is your nutrition, your sleep, your hydration, your exercise? And how well are you doing on each of those? On a scale of 1 to 10? Again, you know, 1 being low, 10 being high? And then, well, how about your general well being? Is your emotional vibrancy every day where you want it? Is it at a 10? Isn't that an 8? Is it a 7? Is it a 1? Whatever. How about your rejuvenating habits every day? How are you doing on a scale of 1 to 10 things that give you energy, bring you joy every day. And if you measure yourself on all of these or a modified list based on these four big areas of your career, relationships, health and well being or feelings, you'll be, you'll get a really well rounded perspective on where you are at right now. So, and that's what we want. So when we measure what matters to us, we can improve what matters to us. And that's all about personal growth. That's all about finding the joy in every day. It's all about having the hugest impact in your communities. So that's the video today. If you have any questions again, hit below. Make sure you hit that subscribe button, that like button. I also want to let you know that Tomorrow as at 1:00pm Pacific Standard Time, I'm running the Transformative Performance Habits workshop. It's a little bit wordy, need to kind of switch that. So that'll change as I go forward. But really what we're going to do is we're going to go in depth into this assessment in your life. We'll do a little bit of sentence completion and planning in the workshop on Zoom, where you can imagine your life again. Get back to dreaming big, to finding that inspiration to figure out maybe some bigger ambitions for yourself so you can go after it. We're going to talk about finding more energy every day using the energy audit for your calendar method that I've been teaching recently that people really seem to love. And then we're going to talk and work through a framework for making decisions, one of many that you could choose from. But I like to call it the push pull framework. And essentially we either are running away from pain or towards something good. So if you have a big decision, you've been putting off like new exercise habits, you're thinking about moving across state lines, switching jobs, starting that business, asking that person out at the coffee shop, all these different things. This is a really awesome framework to help you get your head wrapped around, you know, am I doing this from a place of good or a place of despair and desperation? Because nobody wants to be making decisions from despair and desperation. If you're interested in that free workshop that's tomorrow, you can check the link in my bio or check the link below this video, you click on it, you put in your name and email, you get the zoom link and I see you tomorrow, ready, bright eyed and ready to rock with this workshop. So hope to see you guys there. Hope you enjoyed this video again. Leave me a comment below. If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them. I do this for you and it's really weird when you guys don't comment. So help me out, you know. Yeah, I don't want it to feel like a one way communication. So your questions, your comments encouragements are greatly appreciated. So that said guys, go out there, live with more joy, more personal growth and more impact in community and I will see you later. Take care.
