Get Off the Couch: Find Purpose, & Explore All the Possibilities of Movement, Fun, and Activities

In this conversational session, Speaker B (a coach/therapist) and Speaker A (client) exchange affirmations, discuss the nature of their work, and navigate professional boundaries. Speaker B explains that self‑disclosure is prohibited by licensing regulations, positioning the interaction as coaching rather than psychotherapy, while still drawing on therapeutic techniques such as EMDR and Gottman‑informed couples work. They reflect on personal trauma, including a past suicidal episode and a sibling’s death, and celebrate recent progress and increased self‑love. The dialogue also covers logistical planning for future sessions, scheduling around school calendars, and the creation of a learning group for EMDR practice. Throughout, both participants validate each other, express gratitude, and emphasize the transformative impact of the work on their relationships and personal well‑being.

I love the energy right away, and I really trust you. I really value your advice and opinions. So that, I think, really helps, you know, because I feel safe with you.
Thank you.
Yeah, you make me feel confident.
I love that.
It's incredible. Yeah.
I really love that.
A lot of it, you know, yes, I'm putting the work in, but I'm getting the right guidance from I'm the right person too, so I really appreciate you.
That is so validating. Thank you so much. It feels so good to receive that. Thank you. Yeah, I worked on that part too. I really appreciate it. Thank you.
Yeah, yeah, I know it's hard sometimes to take a compliment.
I'm learning. See how well I did that?
No, that's great. Thank you.
Well, I feel that I intuitively You know, when we first met, I just knew that I wanted to work with you. I didn't think anything else, that it was just like this magic energy that's like, do it. Like, okay. And, and I've learned as much from it as you. And that's that big piece of psychotherapy that bothers me. I can't do this intuitively and open under that scope of practice.
Oh, really?
No.
How come?
I'm not— the rule is no self-disclosure.
Oh, okay. So you can't share personal things. But that's so important. It's like, it's validating, it's helpful. It's like, I want to learn from someone who's gone through the same shit that I'm going through or have gone through.
So yeah, that's— Well, that's why it's not— this isn't fit. Like, I consider this therapy because this is the therapy I got before CRPO took over.
Okay.
But realistically, to me, this, like, this isn't their therapy, right? Their rules and regulations. But this to me is therapy. I went through it. Here's what I learned. Here's all this development. If, if I was a business And you wanted to learn business, you would trust me in a minute to tell you my stories. So, how can I not use them as a therapist? What I went through this week is mimicking your energy; that's why you were put in front of me by the universe so that I could share with you what I'm doing and you're like, that makes total sense to my nervous system. I don't need to talk about this anymore, I just need to do it, I need to change it.
Yeah.
And you did it! Done. Like, we didn't need to talk about it for hours. I didn't need to write a whole template and all these notes. Like, there's no notes that come out of this for me, which again is demand of psychotherapy. For me, it's just— we just did magic work, both of us, in the same moment.
Yeah.
Like, that is what I want. You're going to go and have a great relationship, and now This woman gets a good man. This man gets a good woman. All the kids get good role models. Both your families benefit from the two of you vibrating together. Your siblings are so excited for you. Like, your sister was like, this is the best I've ever seen him. I love what you're doing. I'm like, it is outside the scope of psychotherapy, just to be clear. Like, I wanted her to know because I'm worried about my license and things like that.
Okay.
And then I look at what I'm doing where your sister's saying, oh my God, he's amazing, we love him, and now he's even better.
Wow.
Like, it was so beautiful. She's so proud of you.
It's amazing. And she's always been the number one supporter for sure.
Oh, and she's like, this EMDR is gonna be great for him. I'm like, I know!
She was so excited about the course and really believes in it. And, um, yeah, so—
Me too.
Um, I'm so glad you guys connected.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we exchanged numbers. She's gonna join my, uh, group. We're doing like a learning group once a month in person. Yeah, it was so fun to be in person and practice it. I've done, I've done the EMDR now probably on about 8 people.
Really?
Yeah, I'm quite like— even what I did with you, that was the beginning of it, which you would probably do in a whole hour session. But like, I was kind of testing to see if like energetically you and I could do it quickly. Yeah, it was pretty powerful. Yeah, it was. Yeah, so I'm doing EMDR style in my coaching with ADHD, and then there's the EMDR with The Rules, right?
Yeah.
Again, I have a really clear boundary because this is something different than psychotherapy.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, and you're, like, benefiting from all of the curiosity I have, and I love that you're reflecting it back to me. So amazing. So fun!
It's been incredible so far.
Me too, me too. I haven't had fun in sessions in a long time, so. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I enjoy this. So, okay, you're set for tomorrow. You're ready to go.
Yeah, you are. Yeah, I just wanted to kind of connect with you. Yeah, just you know, just stay on track. And she is willing to stay sitting on a session.
Right.
Do you want to do that still?
Yeah, I'd love that.
Yeah.
Why don't, why don't we wait till all the kids go back to school kind of thing and we shift schedules?
Yeah.
Right? You and her will have some conversations about timing and schedules.
Yeah.
And then we'll do it probably like maybe the middle of September.
Okay.
Where you will both be ready to bring that to the table. I'll give you some— I'll give you in our next session next week, I'll give you some things to— I'm trained in Gottman, which is a type of couples therapy.
Okay.
So, I'll give you all the questions and things to talk about that you can bring to the session so we can really set some good ideas and interpret what you each need from each other.
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, because right now we want to create that safe foundation. We don't want to go in and shake things up.
No, no.
Right.
I mean, she, she— I actually asked her to just think about, you know, what she needed from the break, you know, what she needed to see from me to be accepted back into her life. What did, you know, like, and she, she took it very seriously. She, she wrote a lot down. I can't regurgitate everything because I don't remember it all off the top of my head, but All stuff I kind of knew.
Okay.
But I— it was good to hear from her.
Okay, so you've gotten the themes?
Pretty much, yeah. Yeah, just certain behaviors that she won't put up with.
Can I stop for one second? Do you want to put up with those behaviors? Like, do you like them?
No.
Okay.
Not at all.
Right.
Okay, that's why it's an opportunity. That's why I'm excited. Like, it's, um, this change is happening regardless if we're together or not, right?
Right. This is you. You're loving yourself, and then she can love you more, and you can love her more once you love yourself. I just learned that at 53, so I'm glad you're getting it at 40.
Yeah, it's, um, Yeah, it would have been nice to learn this a long time ago, but—
Thank you, Universe.
Better late than never, right?
Well, I'm not sure you would have valued it before this time. I'm not sure you would have been responsible with that knowledge.
No, you're right.
Right?
I wouldn't have been.
And the experiences that you received to get here is the power. Right? It's the lessons learned in love and pride and accomplishment and achievement and looking at yourself and being, I'm okay, I'm doing what I want to do, I feel and look good, and I'm excited for the next decade. I'm intoxicated by the life I've chosen.
Yeah.
Right?
I'm starting to come around and feel that.
So yeah, last year at this time, I did not want to live.
Really?
Yeah, and my brother has taken his life, had taken his life, so there was never a choice for me to do that, right? Like, I had to sit in my pain. Like, I couldn't even imagine leaving.
Yeah.
And it was really hard. It was run away was my other option. So I made a runaway plan, and I kind of Watch my life blow up until it broke down, and it was all or nothing. And everyone that chose to stay in really did stay in. It's been nine months of this new being, and this is the best version yet. That's amazing. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, like I said, I mean, your energy, your your help, your. Your guidance, your positivity, like it's been a life— a game changer for me. So—
Thank you.
Really be proud of yourself.
Thank you.
Because it's helping me tremendously. So we want you to stick around.
I'm here forever! Now I'm going to 100, that's it. You know, sometimes like you just have to break. And I haven't broken in 30 years. Like I've been On this cycle of defending myself to people who think that I need to be like them when absolutely I just needed to be unique. I needed to own all of this.
Yeah, no, for sure.
Right? And it's really hard to do that when people around you, you just don't feel. But now you have all that love around you, like I've recognized I do. I'm going to own it and feel it and integrate it. And now, so will you.
For sure. And that's why gratitude kind of, yeah, really comes to mind because
