A designer built Pizza Person, an icebreaker game that generates personality cards from pizza topping choices, in five hours for the Figma Makeathon's $100,000 prize pool. The project required 30 AI prompts to refine the design, and the speaker shares tips on mobile-first thinking and how to brief AI effectively in Figma.

I joined the Figma Makeathon, which had a $100,000 reward pool. In just 5 hours, I built Pizza Person, an icebreaker game where the toppings you choose reveal your personality and it generates a personality card. I started with Figma design files illustrating the artwork. Here's what that looked like. One of my first learnings, responsiveness matters. Always design for smaller screens first, then scale up. That's right. That really helped when testing. At first, my prototype was simple. You could select toppings, but the images looked squeezed. Another version congratulated the user but didn't show the toppings added to the pizza circle. Later, I got closer. The button worked and the reset flow was in place, but again, the ingredients didn't fully display. Finally, I landed on a design I liked. Choose 3 toppings, generate a personality card, and play again. Now let's talk about prompting inside Figma Make. Start with one screen at a time, be specific, give context, the task and what you want the AI to change, and always name your files so AI can understand and generate properly. Overall, this project took about 30 prompt iterations. Each step taught me how to work better with AI in the design process. That's how I built Pizza Person.
