To bring people together.
Hi, I'm Tracy McCormick from the Humboldt Crabs and Arcade of Main street, and I'm nominating Debbie Farber Busch for the Torch Award.
Debbie's a real troublemaker. She's always stirring the pot. She's so inspiring that you can't tell her no because the logic is there. You know yourself deep down inside that this needs to be done, that there's a need for this. She seems to never tire of putting on events and her networking skills are pretty amazing. And everyone, I think, speaks pretty fondly of Debbie. It's not just the dedication she has to the community and the things that she gets done, but it's the fact that she brings so much joy in life to the people that she's around while she's accomplishing these things. It's very special.
Debbie inspires us all to be better and to help out our community as much as possible.
My main goal is probably to bring people together. It's great. The end result, making money for the charities is a really good thing and that's what we all want. But it's also about the journey of getting there. And it's about getting people outside of their comfort zones to do things that they might not necessarily do and making new friends along the way. Because I do talk to everybody that I see, whether I know them or not, because that's how we educate people and make change happen. I mean, if everybody chose one thing, whether it's something that they like doing or whether it's way outside of their comfort zone. You know, some people do accounting at work all day long and they don't want to go to a non profit place and do accounting, but maybe they can do something that they're uncomfortable with. People want to do it, they want to get involved. They like the energy of working with groups that are not the same as them. They just need to do it and.
Stop talking about it.
Challenge yourself. It makes a big difference. If one person can make a difference, then that multiplied over and over again makes a way bigger difference. I think that it's really important that you can take your passion and try to figure out a way to cause solutions, to make solutions happen.
