Short excerpt from a YouTube video titled "Courage Night - Torch Award Winner - Tammy Faylor." Alison Jackson briefly honors Tammy Faylor for her animal-rescue work. Tammy describes helping a new county shelter (run by the sheriff's department), initiating rescue pleas that grew into a transportation program and partnerships with rescues, and says they have saved thousands of dogs. She states she retired "this October" and that a nonprofit, Redwood Pals Rescue, will exclusively support the shelter. Tammy issues a call-to-action encouraging community volunteering (dog walking, transport driving) or donating for medical care and kennels to increase capacity.

Hi, my name is Alison Jackson and I've known Tammy Thaler for a great deal of great many years. Her compassionate work rescuing animals is really incomparable. Tammy, I think it's great you're being honored and thank you so much for the entire community and for all the animals. God bless you.
The sheriff's department was put in charge of running the brand new shelter that had zero programs implemented. And he said, since I write so well, why didn't I just send out a few rescue pleas? Well, that writing the pleas morphed into, well, we need to get the dogs out of the county to the rescue. So you have to set up a transportation program. You got to find rescues for the dogs to go to. As the program grew and we saved more and more dogs, which is, you know, thousands now you need more people. So I actually this October have just retired. But my vision is going to be more than fully implemented because now there's going to be a non profit Redwood Pals Rescue that is exclusively going to support the shelter. If you out there are wanting to find a project and love animals, there's so many ways that you can help the Humboldt county shelter animals. You can, you know, from walking dogs to driving dog on a transport. If you happen to be going out of town, it's really simple. Or if you don't have the time, you know, donate. So we can get the medical care for the rescue dogs or buy kennels at another rescue to increase our capacity. There's just so much that you can do, you know, dive in. It doesn't matter that there's not a program in place. It doesn't matter that you don't know what you're doing, because if your heart's in the right place and you go out there, everything is going to fall into place.
