Day 1 – Living from Your Heart (in a 3D World)

In this opening session of the "Susie Unshaped Sessions," Susie Taaffe launches a 31‑day challenge to move from head‑centered thinking to heart‑centered living. She frames January 1, 2026 as a "line in the sand"—a fresh start where past expectations and societal "shoulds" are set aside. The session blends brief breathwork, a grounding mantra, and a philosophical stance that the present moment is the only reality. Susie defines fear as "false evidence appearing real" and explains how forward‑projecting worries pull us out of the now. She demonstrates how to stay present in everyday, often stressful, 3‑D life through gratitude, sensory noticing (sunlight, butterflies, music), and quick breath pauses. Real‑world examples—including driving her son to a basketball game, a chaotic Black‑Friday parking search, and her daughter learning to ski—illustrate how to recognize, label, and gently dismiss fear‑driven thoughts, replacing them with heart‑based trust and joy. The session ends with a concrete Day‑1 task: a brief breathing reset, a gratitude check, and a commitment to notice small moments of love throughout the day, setting the tone for the month‑long practice.

Hi, I'm Susie, and this is the Susie Unshaped Sessions. Well, today I am going to take you on a journey, and I am doing it partly for me and partly for you. So today is actually January 1st, 2026, and I have been thinking about how I wanted to bring in this new year. And I've been doing a lot of listening to other people on YouTube and about this whole New Earth and the new heart coherence and how we're all lifting up and coming from our hearts more and less of all this overthinking, which I am a massive— I am massively guilty of, like number one offender. So I thought I'm going to start it as a 31-day challenge, I suppose, to A, keep me accountable, but also number 2, I want to show you how I'm putting these theories into practice in my day-to-day life. Like, I have moved to a new country, so I've just lost my whole support system. I have 3 kids. I'm a solo parent over here. And so I am in the nitty-gritty. Like, I am in the reality of life. And so I'm going to show you and, and, and show you the good, the bad, and the ugly. Like, all of the reality behind the scenes of Learning how to come from our hearts and getting out of our heads. And so I thought, yeah, let's start with 31 days, and who knows, we might go longer than that. But I thought a 31-day challenge for myself, um, and I would share it here with all of you. So let's just take a deep breath in, right down into your belly, and then let it all out. And oh, just actually just shake it. I'm just shaking out a little bit. I don't feel 100% at the moment. Um, But I really want— my heart really wanted to do this. It really wanted to jump in headfirst into this new year. And so, what I want to do is just take another deep breath, because I need to, and then let it out again. And I want to talk— first, I want to do like, let's call today a line in the sand, and everything before today Does not exist. Like, it's gone. Poof, it's gone. It's irrelevant. It doesn't matter. All we are— like, all I am trying to unlearn, uh, is all of the shoulds and the— all those expectations that we put on ourselves, that society puts on us, so that we can come back into our hearts. So, line in the sand. We are at ground zero. Today is the first day of the rest of your life, and it's a beautiful life that both I and you are going to create together. So, oh, we need another breath in. Just breathing is always such a good way to get grounded and get centered. And the— our goal, your goal, my goal, is to live in the now moment and in the present and I'm not sure where you are on your journey, but if we want to just dig in a little bit, the only thing that is real is right now. We don't need to get into the quantum physics about time not being real, etc., and all time is exactly the same, because it's a bit heady and we don't want to be in our heads. So I would just like to propose that for now, what if right now is the only thing that matters? Not even what if, because right now is the— like, it's the only real thing. Anything else, forward and backwards, is not real right now. This is real. So this is what we're going to practice. And I mean, like, practice in the nitty-gritty. I mean, practice in my son needs to be driven here, my daughter wants to go there, I feel sick. How do I stay present in all of that? Like, oh, it's like you just— Like life is happening and it feels like I always— like I've always played with this and it's so nice if you can be present in a yoga class or on a nice walk on the beach or something, but how do we be present in the day-to-day ugliness of real 3D life? And I think that's the dance we're going to take together. The ins, the outs, the triggers, the how do you pull yourself back. So, I did a video the other day, and because I've been playing with this— how do you, um, see, look, a notification just came up from my daughter saying, can you pick me up? Um, so yes, I'll get to her later, but because I want to be present with this right now, and the pickup time is in the future, so that actually doesn't exist right now. Only me and you right now exist. So I've been playing with using gratitude as a shortcut to Being in the present. So I was just doing this literally as I was driving my son. He got invited to a basketball game, so we had to leave now, now, now. So there's like, you know, 3D popping up. And as I said, I don't feel well. So I just— I think the first step is to notice where you get flustered. Especially when we're constrained, like time pressures, we can quickly get out of being in the present and it pulls us into this autopilot panic, heady, ugh. So, I think after 31 days, I think if we keep doing this, we are just gonna— we are gonna be flowing seamlessly, and little triggers like that are not going to snap us out of it. So, always just a quick little breath. I think like 2% of preparation before anything can help us do it from a heart-based place and keep us in that heart coherence. Instead of getting into the heady, heady space of stuff. So I did a quick dip. I was like, okay, I can drive him, that's okay, we can make it. And then I went outside and I was like, just take a breath in. Look, the sun has come out. It's been raining, and you know when you feel sick and it's raining, it just sort of makes it all a bit, uh, even worse. So I just looked at the sun and just looked at the rays coming through the clouds and Just appreciated it, just appreciated what the now moment was doing for me. And I noticed, because I get little flashes of fears, which are false evidence appearing real, is what fear is. It's false evidence appearing real, because fear is not from our hearts. Fear is from these little tricky bad boys up here, which is computing a gazillion ways things can go wrong. And for forward projecting. Like, right now in this moment, there is nothing wrong, but fear can like shackle you into its grips by forward projecting all the, all the possibilities of things that could go wrong. So false evidence appearing real— if it's not love and if it's not in the now, it's not real. Anything else, like— and it's hard to wrap my head around this, and so along this journey I'll be giving you real-life examples of how something has popped in And I have analyzed it. No, take the word analyze because that sounds like it's coming from my heart. It's like, is this from love? Is this from my heart? Is this actually matter right now? So no, the, the things that pop in, they're not real. They're trying to like, yeah, shackle you to their, to their grips, and they just— they're, they're irrelevant. All that is real is the present moment right now. And so I went out to the car, I noticed the sun, and then I was driving him and he was sitting in the back because he sieves to move the stuff off the front seat, was what he said. So that's the slang for can't be bothered. Um, and so I was like, okay, whatever, I'll sit in the front. Um, means I can be the DJ. So I put on a playlist that I love and I thought, I'm just going to enjoy this trip. Like, I'm just going to This is what I'm doing right now. What, like, appreciate the things along the way. So as you're driving, just notice— I was noticing the sun sparkling off the water, and I used to tell the kids that that was the water fairies were dancing from the sun's beams lighting them up. And just finding little glimmers of heartfelt joy That's, I think, the trick to getting you through— getting you— no, not getting you through, but like to staying present and grounded. Like, put it on a good song. If it's not cutting the mustard, skip it along. Notice the things around. Is there an amazing butterfly fly in front of the car? Is there— I don't know— notice someone as you drive past, they have a pretty house, or, wow, those flowers out the front there are blooming beautifully. And just notice these little things to pull you into the present, because we're going to have those 3D realities of where we have to drive our kids somewhere when we're not feeling well. But if we can pull into our now present moment the gratitude for the joys that actually are here right now, and they are as simple as the sun is shining, or like there's a butterfly right there. They are literally that simple. They are. It might be you're having a A funny conversation. Even the fact he said, Sebs, Sebs moving the stuff off the front seat, like, that actually makes me laugh. A, because I know what Sebs means. I didn't for a while. Um, and B, because I don't know, it's just, it's, it's a, it's interaction with my son. It's, it's something to be cherished. And so we've just got to pick up these little glimmers all the way. They say that the destination is not what it's about. It's about the journey, and the journey is about being present in each now moment and choosing to live it in your heart and not get stuck up here. So, for example, some of the things that my head was throwing at me— like, we were going past groceries, or we're just like, do I need to? It's like, no, right now. And so, it's sort of like recognizing when the head starts flicking these future things in that can cause fear and anxiety, or worry, or overwhelm, and just sort of like, I see you for what you are. You're not real right now. You're irrelevant, and just flicking them away. And really just having a play with that. So that's day 1 task, is to have a play with— firstly, breathe in. Mm-hmm. And just ground yourself in the now moment. And as I said, I understand, like, we're not all at a yoga class. We're not all like— life is busy. But just that split second of awareness is all you need to pull you back. It's just, that's what we're going to be training at. So we become on— so we can just— we automatically are in the flow of the now present moment. And then grounding into our hearts and connecting in with the joy and the love and, like, noticing the joy and the love around us. Because that's what life is about. Like, we are universal miracles. Like, we are all made from, like, divine source energy. Like, we are all divine beings. We are all made from the same energy. We are the butterfly. We are the sunshine. We are the car. We are the seeds material on the front seat. We are all of the things. We are God. We are Jesus. We are your arch nemesis. We are your hero. All of that. We are all that same divine energy, and that's— that divine energy comes from love. And there's actually one, um, one reader who I quite like because she's so blunt with this. She goes, if it's not good, it's not God. It's such a simple— like, if it doesn't feel good, it's not from God. So we can play with that. If it doesn't feel good, it's not from God. It is fear. It's false evidence appearing real. So I am going to wish you a very first day zero. Like, this is our first day of coming back into our hearts and remembering who we are, which is beautiful divine creations, every single one of us. And that is being present, and that is being what they're calling this new human and the new Earth, because we're lifting up into our hearts and I like can't wait to do this next 31 days with you. Maybe we'll do longer and just see the ease with which we start to flick those fears and the things that are popping into our heads that are trying to keep us down and keep us in dense energy and keep us like not living out of our hearts. So we're going to get like the little— we can bat them. You can bat them away. If they're big ones, just go, boo, you're not real. Boo, you're not real. Because Anything that is not love is not real. Like, anything that doesn't make you feel good is not from God. So we're going to play— actually, I'll— we won't— well, I'll tell you it now today. Um, I was at— I was at Black Friday sales, so you can imagine what a nightmare they were. And there was cars everywhere. And I was like, I dropped my daughter and my sister off and they went in. I went, I'll get a park because I find it a lot less stressful just parking by myself. And I was like, I was getting overwhelmed. I was getting frustrated. All those little thoughts, you're never going to get a park, uh, you suck, etc., coming in. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. I was like, okay, breathe. I have to hand this over to a higher power, which is my heart. We are the higher power. You are it. It is you. So listening, you call it your intuition, parking fairies, whatever it is. I was like, I'm never going to think my way through this because there is too much mayhem and chaos. And so I went, okay, where are we going? So am I driving down here? They're like, yes, drive down here. Am I going left? No. Am I going right? You're going right. Okay. And then I'm like, do I keep going? Yes. Keep going. Yes. Keep going. Yes. Am I turning left or am I turning right? Anyway, this went on for a while and then eventually they said stop. Okay, there was no parks there. So I was like, they said stop. Okay, stop. Just wait here. They said just wait. And so I waited. And you know, when you're trying to find a park, it feels like a very long time in between minutes. I probably only waited 2 minutes. Probably at about 60 seconds, I started to second-guess with this, going, oh no, come on, we should just keep going. And they were like, no, wait. And I was like, okay. Another minute went past. They were like— I was like, oh, the head started taking over. And they were like, No, you need to trust us, and you need to allow some patience at the same time. So sitting there in the patience is difficult because you're questioning your trust. Do I trust the park's actually coming? Like, all of this stuff starts— like, just breathe and wait and listen and trust. And sure enough, It probably— maybe it was 3 minutes in the end, but this place was mayhem. To get a park in 3 minutes was still pretty good. And there, someone came out of nowhere and walked to a car right in front of me, and boom, there was my park. So I just— this is what we're going to be playing with over these 31 days. It's getting into our hearts, listening to our hearts. My head was today like, oh, you don't feel great. We could just not do this. We could just skip it. And my heart was like, no, you really want to do this because your heart My heart wants to start this year connected and connected and feeling— oh, just feeling that trust and joy and love. And when I talk to you guys, it gives me a chance to sit here. I can be so present when I'm doing this because I have committed to this time of presence, so this is an easy time for me to be present. I'm talking with you. And it's actually interesting. One more thing and then I'll let you go. Where's my sister? Skiing. And she's learning to ski. And, um, my daughter is ringing me again. Go away. Hi, I'm on a— I'm recording, darling. Yes, I'll get you. Bye. Okay. Sorry, guys. I see 3D present. Breathe. She will be okay. She's safe where she is. I want to tell you this quick thing and then I will go and pick her up. Um, she's learning to ski, and we were talking about how skiing is such a good, like, for the philosophy of life and how it's difficult. So you've got to be present and in your body when you're doing it. You've got to, like, you've got to be aware of what your body's doing, and like, it's a real presence-building moment. And then we're also talking, it's also very resilient building, resilience building as well, because it's hard and it, like, your legs hurt and your shins hurt from the boots and You've got to push through and listen to your body and be present so that you can feel the joy. And when you get those joyous moments, I just feel like that's a little bit of life. Like waiting for the car park, you've just got to take a breath and be patient with yourself. And I'm not saying it's always going to be comfortable; it's not. We are not remembering It just like I'm not saying this right, so I'm just going to stop. Life things can still be difficult, but it doesn't mean that it's not from our hearts. If our hearts choose it from here and not with the shoulds and the shouldn'ts and da da da da da, all of this fear-based stuff up here. So anyway, I better go get that daughter of mine now. I love you lots. Practice this, and I can't wait to see you day two. Bye.
