Love yourself enough to invest time and resources into feeling good!!

In this solo vlog, Susie Taaffe (host of the "Susie Unshaped" series) delivers an informal, conversational coaching session about how to bring the central nervous system (CNS) down to a calm state and live from the heart. She begins with a practical demonstration of box breathing (4‑4‑4‑4) as a tool to regulate the CNS and stay present. Susie then expands the discussion to the broader belief‑system work of "unshaping" limiting should‑based narratives, encouraging viewers to recognize themselves as magical, divine beings whose portal to universal intelligence is the heart space. She shares personal anecdotes – reading a book on a Monday instead of tackling a to‑do list, which led to unexpected business connections for a friend – to illustrate how aligning with what feels good (flow) generates synchronicities and ideas. Throughout, she offers concrete self‑care micro‑rituals (short meditations, mindful showers, coffee pauses, grounding in nature) and practical tips for carving out time, space, and resources for self‑love, framing it as a birthright rather than a reward. The video concludes with a homework assignment: identify and practice a small activity that makes you feel good, thereby lowering the CNS, entering alignment, and allowing ideas to surface effortlessly.

Hello, welcome. I'm Susie and this is Susie Unshaped, where we are unshaping all the belief systems that are preventing us from living our truly most amazing, fantastical, magical life. So take a breath, breathe in and let it out. So I've been talking about how our central nervous system is key to actually identifying Your ability to stay present and in the now moment. And breathing, number one. Breathe, breathe, breathe. Maureen, you're in my head. Breathe, breathe, breathe. Big deep breaths down your belly. Like, if you're ever stressed and need— like, the— your go-to should be like, you know, like box breathing. It's easy. You breathe in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, in for 4. And just do that for, I don't know, as until like you just can feel yourself settle down. You can count how many you want to do. I don't know, do it for 2 minutes or something, 3 minutes. And just— and I'm gonna tie it all together. 1:11 on the clock when I said that. I'm gonna tie it all together today because we've been un— like, we have been Peeling back the layers that have been preventing us from seeing who we truly are, like this illusion, that this 3D illusion that we've, um, that we've placed there ourselves. We chose to not remember when we came into this life. A quick recap: who are we? We are magical divine creatures of the universe. We are divine source intelligence, and our portal to this intelligence is our heart space. So if you haven't done my challenge, the 31-day challenge, it's totally free. Look in the playlists. I'll try and put it in the description. Usually it takes me a few days, but it's free. Start on day 1. Do it sequentially because I uncover it as I'm speaking to you. I did it. I recorded it for me, but I've shared it with you because it kept me accountable. But the aha moments we've had along the way have just been like, like we have uncovered so much in the 31 days about who we truly are, what we're here for. And then now these, these subsequent videos are all about integrating it into the 3D world because we don't know how to lead by our hearts just yet. Like we don't know how to do that. We've never led solely by our heart. So it's, it just reminds me of when I learned to drive a manual car and it is clunky and you're bunny hopping and you forget what you're doing. And then, you know, after Like, and you've been driving now for 25 years, or no, even more. I didn't even know. I can't even count. A long time I've been driving for. 30 years nearly. Oh, that's frightening. Um, but now you do it automatically. And even if you've been driving an automatic for ages, you can get into a manual and it's not as clunky. So anyway, I digress. I'm going to show you how it all comes together. I can't. No, I did do a video yesterday. I did a video yesterday and I was talking about the central nervous system and it's like, why do we need our central nervous system to be at like a 3 or a 4 out of 10? And it's like, why do we need to be in the present moment? Why do we need to be doing things that bring us joy? Like, why? And the answer is because when you're doing them, You're in flow and in alignment, and then the universe just drops in the synchronicities and the, like, it just drops them into your lap. And anything that you've been butting your head against, like, the answers just appear when you're in flow and alignment and you know, and you have no expectation on finding an answer. Boom, there it is. Boom, there it is. And I'm gonna give you the perfect example. So yesterday was Monday. And I told you that I was— sorry, itchy nose again. Um, I told you that I was absolutely shattered from the event, and so I have been just solely focusing on my central nervous system and listening to the cues of my body when it wants something to numb the central nervous system, really listening and actually digging in a bit deeper and seeing what it actually wants. For me, it's mostly I'm either tired or I'm hungry a lot of the time. Tired, stressed, or hungry. Like, that's when you're reaching for something to make the feeling stop, make it stop, make the tiredness— like, give me the boost, etc. Anyway, so yesterday was a Monday. I'd had a very relaxing weekend. Like, I had done very not a lot because I was shattered, I was broken. And so Monday rocks around and you think, like, Monday you're going to be like, get up and at 'em and like get into the to-do list. Like start doing, start like ticking off the things. Like I'm a doer, as I said. Like I, I, I, I don't just sit around and relax, relax and rest. So to do that all weekend, like I had to dig a bit deep to give myself permission to do that, which makes no sense, but it's how we're wired. Anyway, so yesterday, Monday, do you know, do you think I dove into my to-do list? Nope. You know what I did? I continued to read the book, which I remember now is why I don't read that many books, because once you hook me in with a book, I can't put them down. And I remember as a child, my mother actually used to ban me from reading books like you would ban a child from watching television, because once I was hooked, I was gone. And I'd be like hiding and like hiding under the covers at night to read the book. I must have had a torch because we didn't have phones back then, obviously. Like, I I will not put it down. And anyway, so I, for most of yesterday on Monday, a doing day, uh, let's get the week off to a start, I read a book. And I did feel guilty. There was parts of me that were feeling guilty, 100%, like I should be getting that to-do list going. Like, there's a lot of things on that list. Shouldn't be enjoying yourself reading a book. And do you know what? I was just like, do you know what? I did my little wiggle dance. I went, I'm going to read this book and I am going to enjoy it, and that's that. Wiggle wiggle. I was happy, and I just—I gave myself permission to feel good about it and not to feel guilty. I wanted to read the book, so I read the book, and with no expectation of absolutely anything else to come from it, I was just reading a book because I enjoyed it. Okay, so fast forward to today. I actually got up this morning, I finished the book. A bit disappointing, the ending. But anyway, it wasn't disappointing, it just sort of stopped, like the pages just stopped, and I was like, what, that's it? It didn't sort of like wrap it up in the end. And anyway, I would like to rewrite the ending, but that's for another day, and I'm not going to do that. Um, anyway, today I did get up, and I, and I was— I actually again had a bit of a slow morning, did a meditation, sorted out the washing. The house is a bit of a tip, didn't do that. And I'm getting to my point, I promise. And then I thought, okay, I'm just gonna do— I'm just going to like— I have this report, um, that I was helping a friend, my gorgeous friend Anna, out with, um, trying to find the best person to get her business in front of. And this report was about, um, marketing agencies. Anyway, I was like, okay, I had a person in mind. I thought, let me just dig into this report a little bit. I didn't realize it was 95 pages long. Side note, I have not read all 95 pages. In fact, I've read about 4. And then I went, you know what, let's just go and dig into who's the author of this book, of this report. So I went onto LinkedIn and searched up the author of this report, and then there was 2 mutual friends. One I didn't know— well, it's like one of those mutual friends on LinkedIn that's not really a friend— and the other one I did know. And not only did I know her, but She is the perfect person to connect Anna with to to go forward further on where Anna is with her business, and it just it jogged me back to I'd met this girl 18 months ago. She is brilliant, and she had another friend with her who was also brilliant, each in their own right, and I had completely forgotten about them. So I have now yep gone in reconnected connected everybody because they are the right people that should be talking. So. The person who wrote the report, yeah, we can also get a call with him as well. Like, and that just went bang, bang, bang. Like, 3 leads, really good, really good leads for that little part of my project that I was helping Anna with, just like that. And that, my friends, is what we call alignment. And that, like, My brain, I like could have sat trying to rack my brain. I would have never remembered to connect Anna with those two people because it had been too long ago and I had completely forgotten about it. And then we have bang bang bang. There it is, straight in front of me. Three great leads that actually are really good leads to progress it to the next stage to where this fantastic business of Anna's ramp.com with two M's R A M P dot com. If you want to check it out, it's absolutely awesome. She's got Rant Web Dude on there that you can put your website in and it will give you an analysis of how you're doing, how your website like is doing from like a trust perspective. She has a diagnostic that measures trust, which in a world of today and fake and things like that, we do need to know what are the quantitative metrics of trust for our businesses? Like how much are we trusted? Anyway, I digress. The point being, I read a book yesterday instead of doing my to-do list, and then this morning it just went bang, bang, bang. Like, to progress that far, like, with such good connections that quickly and that easily, that is alignment. That is being in the flow. And to get in the flow, you have to do what you love and what you want to do. Get your wiggle. And like, I want to do this and I'm not going to feel guilty about it. Like, what do you want to do and not feel guilty about? Like, that's, that's living from our hearts, not from this should, this bunch of shoulds up here that is Monday, I need to like crack on with that list and smash through it. It doesn't ever say on any list Monday, hang out and read a book, a fiction book that's gonna get you nowhere. Like, It's not gonna look— you're not gonna learn anything. It's for pure enjoyment. And I read that book and then boom. And then today, like, today has just been like that. It's just been like bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Like, things have been happening so easily. Like, just— that's called flowing. In the flow. Like, it's just been— and I've sat at my computer and I've just gone boom, boom. It's like connect, connect, find that, find that. And like, it's just Unrolled and unraveled so easily. And that's the point. That's why we've got to bring our central nervous system down to a 3 or a 4 and then do the things that put us in the flow and in alignment. Like, reading the book did 2 things. It helped me because I was exhausted. So I started the book on Saturday, um, because I thought I can take that to the beach, I can ground down the beach and read like an actual paperback book. Touch and feel, no screens, out in the sun with the sand and the wind. And oh, it was so lovely. And so it, it, it brought my central nervous system down, and then it also put me in the flow because I was just enjoying it with no expectation of anything other than my pure enjoyment of reading a book. So, like, it's really that simple, but it's not at the same time. Like, our 3D brains don't want you to just go reading a book all day Monday. Like, my programming— you don't go reading a book all day Monday. Like, who do you think you are to just hang around and read a book and not work and not, like, do your to-do list and get all of that work stuff done? That is the hard part. It's switching that part of our brain off. And I think I have mentioned this in the challenge especially, like about— it's sort of like tidying the house, cleaning, doing the dishwashers, doing the laundry when it's stacking up, and how there will be a time when you feel inspired to do it. And until that time, do not do it because you should. Because it instantly takes you out of the flow. You do it because you feel inspired, not like, uh, so you've got to do it. It's all about the energy that we do things from. Like, what is the energy inside of us? Is it a should, or is it a, oh, I really want to get that done right now? Like, I feel like getting that done. Am I going to put the music on and like get it all sorted? Like, I feel like doing it because the inspiration will come. You won't live in a mess nonstop. Like, it does come, but you've gotta wait. Like, it's like the waves, ebbs and flows. Like, right now in the moment, you've gotta do what your heart is telling you. And that's the part that's hardest, to switch this should brain off with all of these expectations and shoulds and belief systems that we've put on ourselves over all of the years. Like, Monday is a doing day. Monday's not a resting day. You've had the weekend to do resting. You don't go resting on a Monday reading a book. Like, who are you? And that's the hard part. The hard part is giving ourselves permission to actually do what brings us— what brings— makes us feel good. And that's what I said, like, I had the aha moment yesterday. It was so simple, but that self-care is just really Self-care is just giving, like loving ourselves enough to give ourselves the space, the time, and the resources to do something that makes us feel good. That's literally it. And like we're, we're not taught that. Like we are taught like self-flagellation. You gotta flog yourself, flog yourself. So you don't go like investing in yourself to feel good? Like, what do you mean? What do you mean I'm just going to invest in myself to feel good just for the sake of it? I didn't do anything to deserve it. It's like, you deserve it because you exist. It's your birthright to feel good. Just sit with that for a second. Breathe at the same time. Like it is your birthright to feel good. Let that sink in. And next time you get that list guilt, Monday guilt, let's call it the Monday guilt. You know what I mean? Like your mantra is. It is my birthright to feel good. And then you do the other stuff when you're inspired to do it, and that's when it all flows. And you will do it in like, I would say, less than one-tenth of the energy and effort and time that it would take you than if you're pushing beep uphill trying to polish it. Do you know what I mean? Like Hands off. Lay in a hammock. Read a book. Whatever it is. Whatever it is that make you feel that makes you feel good. It is your birthright. And then you watch when you're inspired to do the thing, whatever the thing is, it's on the list. Bang bang bang. When you're coming at it from like calm and alignment and inspired action. Bang bang bang. Bang bang bang. Going, oh my gosh, she's nuts. Anyway, it's just like I just like it. It seems counterproductive. I think it's also like you know how they say I'll always remember is like when you don't have time to meditate is the exact time you need to meditate. It's the same thing. You're so frazzled and harried. Harried a word? Yeah, it is. Harried, like that. You like— if you think about it, like, like, and maybe if you're in that and you, you have like real 3D life pressures and you can't just lie around reading a book all day, what about just a, like, gifting yourselves a 20-minute guided meditation or a 20-minute like sit in the grass, like grounding with the sun on you, or Like, it doesn't— like, it can be like what I said yesterday. Instead of a 30-second rush shower, you allow yourself a 3-minute shower and you just be present and enjoy the water rush, like, washing over you, and just, like, notice it and just feel how nice that warm water feels. Like, well, maybe it's you don't, like, gulp your coffee down at the, at the kitchen sink before you rush out to drop the kids. Like, you probably don't feel like you have a lot of time, but are giving yourself 2— like, 2 minutes is all I'm talking about. Sitting, going somewhere quiet with your coffee and sitting for 2 minutes. You'd be surprised at how much like that can actually settle you and ground you. But you have to cut, like it's, see what I mean? It's the self-love to invest that 2 minutes into yourself to say, everybody, I am gone for 2 minutes. I'm gonna have my coffee outside where I can't hear any of you. You can do your thing. Or it might even be, if that's too crazy, if you've got lots of little kids, maybe it's that you invest in a really nice travel mug. So after you've dropped them all and you're on your way to work or wherever you're on your way to, Your coffee is still warm and hot sitting in your travel mug. So they're dropped off, you can put on the radio or put on your favorite song, and on your way to work you have a nice hot coffee to drink. Do you know what I mean? Like, it's, it's self-love, it's self-care, it's investing in yourself to make you feel good, whatever that looks like. And I know everyone's got like Some people, they're going to 5-star resorts and spas and things, and not everyone has the budget for that. Like, other people, it might be, could I have a half an hour in bed after work just decompressing before I get up and do the kids' dinners and homework and washing and whatever else it is? Like, where can you carve out the resources, the space, the time for yourself to do something that makes you feel good? Feel good. That's my homework for you. You have homework today because once you can carve out that space and that time, that's when you can a bring your central nervous system down to like a three or a four. As I said, a lot of you are just going to need to sleep or rest or like you're you're like to start this, you're just going to be like head pretty much under a cover. just want to lie there in silence, just with no noise for 30 minutes. And if you've got kids and they're noisy, you may need to get noise-canceling headphones or put some classical music on or rain or whatever it is to block them out. But it's allowing yourself the space, the time, the resources, and figuring out like what that even looks like for you. Like I've had— like I was a single mom with 3 kids from From the ages of five, three, and one. Like I get it. I see you if you're in that. I get it completely. Like it is crazy, and the thought of any time to yourself is just like. But I think what I used to do then was I would like get to kindy pickup or school pickup twenty minutes early, and all of a sudden I've carved out twenty minutes for myself in the car. And yeah, I might have had to leave work early, and maybe I'll go in early the next day, or maybe I would go in early in the mornings. So that I could carve out that 20 minutes. Where can you find time, space, and resources to invest in yourself in whatever capacity you have? Like, whatever capacity that looks like. As I said, it might be 2 minutes drinking your coffee before the chaos of the morning run. It might be spending 3 minutes in the shower instead of 30 seconds and actually being present and enjoying it instead of rushing through the process. Maybe you actually— like, for me, I'm not someone with like beauty routines. I never have been. I don't think I ever will be. But, and probably a lot of it has been from time. Like, I haven't had time to do a beauty routine. Like, I can shower, shower, makeup, out the door, fully like done, 15 minutes. Like bang, bang, bang. To me, the idea of a 3-minute shower, I'm like, well, what do I do with all that time? Why would I spend 3 minutes in the shower when I can spend like 45 seconds in the shower, and that's probably washing my hair. So it's sort of just shifting the narrative to what can I do for myself to make myself feel good? That's your homework. Okay, I have been blabbing on about this enough now. What can you do for yourself to make yourself feel good? And then I want you to do it because The more you do that, the more you're gonna bring your central nervous system down. You're gonna be in alignment. And as I said, once you're in alignment, like, you, you won't believe since I've been resting and giving myself this time to just like realize my central nervous system was frazzled. Like, alignment also means like ideas. Like when I was lying on the beach and I was grounding to the beach, I was like that, like idea, idea, idea, idea. Like the idea, like when you clear that space for yourself to rest and Just like that's when the ideas and inspiration comes in. Like I don't know if like this is going to be really weird, but I'm going to say it anyway because you know this is like a no bar, no holds barred or whatever that saying is channel. It's like you know when you're sitting on the toilet and you get ins who there's so many people get inspiration on the toilet and do you know why they get inspiration on? the toilet is because— no, well, when you have young kids, there's probably not much inspiration because they're literally like climbing all over you anyway. But no one— like, you have nothing to do when you're in the toilet. You are like completely free and clear. There is like— you're not doing anything else. So that's why you get your good ideas. I know that's too much information, but it's a thing. So that's why, like, I was down at the beach, I'm lying on the beach And like, I'm just literally grounding. I'm listening to waves. You know how when you've been in the ocean and it's like you're wet and the wind's on your back and you've got the salty seawater on you and it just is— that's one of like my favorite times, that like wet sun, wind, salty goodness. And just, yeah, ideas popping in, ideas popping in. Same. Like, go— if you've got— go get it. If you've got the weather for it, go get a picnic rug and just lie. Put it out in the garden or in a park and just lie. Look. Up at the clouds. Okay, that's your homework. That's it. Pretty easy. Pretty easy. Like cooking. Yeah. Okay, I'm gonna stop now because you've been given your homework. You need to carve out, find things that make you feel good, and then invest in yourself because you are worth it, because you are a magical Like fantastical divine being from the universe. So that's it. That's all folks. As they say in Looney Tunes. Okay. I love you lots. Go do it now because I said so. Bye.
