A reflection on sex while drunk versus sober. The speaker won't sleep with someone too intoxicated to remember it, and expects the same standard in return. As they've gotten older, they prefer sober sex because it feels better and allows for real sensitivity.

Let's talk about sober versus drunk sex. I suspect I'm not the only one who probably spent a considerable amount of time in my youth on something, whether it was smoking a little bit or having too much to drink. Never so much that I was so off my face that I couldn't remember the next morning who I was with or what I'd done, um, thankfully. But I know lots of my friends still to this day find it difficult to have sex when you're sober, and I think we've all got to take responsibility not for our own behavior, but for the behavior and the understanding of the person that we're with. And I think if I'm with someone who I think is so drunk that they're not going to remember what happened the next morning, I really don't want to have sex with them, to be honest, because I don't think it's very sexy. And similarly, if I'm so out of it that the person I'm with thinks that there's any risk that I might wake up the next morning wondering who the hell they are, I think that they should go home alone as well, and I think that's generally the rule that should apply when it comes to not being completely sober and having sex. These days, sober and having sex is my favorite way to have sex, mostly because it feels better, and, you know, sensitivity and stuff has decreased as I've gotten older, so I like things to feel good.
