Suzanne Noble argues against dwelling on the past. She learns from experience and moves on rather than formally reflecting, warns against repeating relationship mistakes, and questions whether age automatically brings wisdom.

I don't really do reflection much. I was accused the other day by one of my children, actually, of not reflecting enough, but I don't really do reflection, as I just said. I do kind of learn from experience and then move on, and I think that's the best that most of us can do, is try not to repeat the same mistakes that we've been making for a great deal of our lives, and especially when it comes to relationship. If something feels familiar and that familiarity was crap back then, it's gonna be crap right now. And I suspect, like many people, I'm not really into the words elders or anything in fact that implies that older people have got some sort of innate wisdom because we all make really stupid mistakes time and time again. And just because we're older doesn't mean we're any wiser.
